How do you fuck up cooking unless you've walked away from it? If you really don't know how just go watch some cooking videos on YouTube or something and try to follow them. They should tell you exactly what you need to do including stove/oven time.

What did it for me was doing 8-12 hour smoked BBQ.

Very little to fuck up since it takes so long. I suck at everything but po boy and I'm a Texan

Protip:
>Buy meat thermometer and keep the dial outside, don't mind the gap
>if you've got a single chamber grill then offset charcoal and tin foil is your friend
>Don't trim, like at all
>Do a simple rub first then learn how to baste while it smokes
>learn marinade
>learn your states flavour as in
-Most northern state are trash and use mayonnaise based sauce
-Bible belt uses Mustard
-Texas uses Ketchup
-NC uses straight vinegar Fuck NC
>keep at 220F and don't stall at 190f
>make sure to have had entertainment outside with you prior to BBQ

how can you not grill things? You put them on a hot piece of metal and keep an eye on them so they don't burn. If it gets to hot, lower the heat. Do it long enough to make sure everything is well done (or whatever way you like your meat).

Found a decent starting point for meatballs, this is a simple ratio of ingredients so you can add whatever you want and mix and match stuff

1 lb meat/handful bread crumbs (about 1/4 cup)/handfull of minced onion or garlic, etc. (again about 1/4 cup)/1 egg

Use any meat you want, use any seasonings you want, you can even switch the breadcrumbs up if you wanted Im sure. Just keep to the ratio.
