How much do you deadlift
???

Deadlifts put extreme pressure on your lower lumbar vertebrae, even with proper form. Enjoy your slipped disc later in life ya morans

I'd rather just do the deadlift machine
>>

yea deadlifts are the scariest exercise in my opinion.

5x3pl8. Been lifting 2 months.

I only squat

>>

so squats give you bad knees?

I did 325 for 3 the other day. I was shaking a lot even though I got the weight up really fast and I want tired. I've never shaked before on deadlifts. I got 315 for 3 5 weeks ago with no shaking at all and 325 isn't much more weight, does any body know what's going on?

If you feel like you can lift more, add more.
>>
>>37375045
Deadlifts go up in 20kg increments only
>>
>>37374973
When you're doing near maximal weights, you have to be on. It could be as simple as you getting less sleep the night before, or having eaten differently, or whatever. Any small variable that reduces your output will be noticed.
>>
>>37374324

Still auschwitz, only lifted a few weeks and scared about snap city.

120kg before I snapped my back up. Haven't done them in months.

Better to be slow and steady about it and be safe than rush up that e-stat and risk snap city.

You're gonna make it, m8.

Welcome to /fit/

3pl8 at 130 lbs BW

Being a manlet has its benefits I guess
>>
>>37374324

Only up to 2pl8. I'm DYEL as fuck, but I'm still progressing.

One day I'll be at a weight that's worth boasting about.
>>
I don't. Deadlifts are for faggots and athletes, and most of you aren't athletes.
>>
>>37374324
0 lbs

I have pretty severe cartilage damage in my right knee (and just got surgery to mitigate it), and pretty bad damage in my left knee. Doc says if I don't want to have arthritis in 5 years that I have to stop running and doing any high weight lifts that involve my knees. Shit sucks. I do what I can, but even my best efforts make me look like I skip leg day.
>>
90kg, having big ass problems with my grip (been using mixed grip which I would like to avoid).
Still going up obviously, I'm pretty new.

Any help to increase my strenght grip?

When I was younger I used to "crack" my wrists, my doctor warned me that I would have weaker grip strenght due to that, but I didn't care.
>>
>>37375261

>Needing to use mixed grip at not even 2pl8

Nigga, what?

Anyway, to answer your question, deload to as heavy as you can do a full 5 reps without your grip failing, and do a static hold at the end of the last rep. Hold it for as long as you can, only putting it down when your grip starts to wane. This transforms your deadlift into a grip exercise in addition to everything else it trains.

Heavy-ass Farmer's Walks are also good for training grip. Doing pullups with just your fingers (if you're able to do that) is also great.

Don't expect results overnight though. You gotta gradually train it just like everything else.

If you want to keep pushing up your deadlift weight in the meantime, warmup with normal grip (using your max with normal grip as part of the warmup) and then switch to hookgrip for when the weight is too much to handle otherwise.
>>
>>37375318

>with just your fingers

I meant fingerTIPS
>>
>>37374324
My gym doesn't have free weights so I just dead lift the two 45lb dumbbells. Do people think I'm retarded?
>>
>>37375318
>>37375347

>Needing to use mixed grip at not even 2pl8
Yes, I really suck at it, I have 0 strenght grip.
I'm not even able to hang from a bar using only one hand (not even for a second).
Thanks for the tips, will use them.
>>
>>37375394

It's not about where you start (or are now), but rather where you end up.

You're gonna make it, senpai.

315 same as my squat. I do mine double overhand which is why it's so low. /fit/ has scared me from ever using hook grip since seeing the plethora of bicep tendon snapping videos. Also is it normal to feel physically stressed out after a couple of weeks of heavy lifting? I'm cutting and weight is either going down or barely I'm just barely able to keep it at or close to my 1rep max. I'm deloading this week and hoping it helps.
>>
>>37374324
Last time I deadlifted was doh at 290 for 5. I didn't like my back rounding on the 3rd rep so I stopped. Think it rounded on the 4th too

Now I do rack pulls with the bar just below my knees. Got to 375 with straps. Did 365 with mixed but terrified of bicep tears. Think I could probably do 400, but I want to take it slow and safe.

Also I think mixed is easier than straps to hoist the weight up, but it's scary so no
>>
>>37375422

>hook grip
>bicep tears

You're thinking of mixed grip, m8. Hook grip doesn't cause bicep tears.
>>
1 RM? 405 lbs. I honestly prefer just doing 2 pl8 for 3 sets of 8 and then 1 set of 3 pl8 as many as I can.
>>
>>37375422
Hook grip doesn't have increased bicep tearing probability. You're thinking of mixed grip.

Start training hookgrip. Don't let your grip be your limiting factor during deads.

Don't know what my one rep max is but my grip strength is whack so the most I can do at the moment is just over 2pl8.

I'm doing 4 sets of 5 @ 100kg at the moment, I have no problem lifting the weight, it's bringing it back down that fucks me up, it pulls on my fingers and I worry I'm going to drop it, I don't want to wear lifting gloves because I don't actually swallow man-semen.

280kg.

Hopefully 300kg this Sunday.

Holding your last rep of the day for as long as possible is best grip strength builder. Never have any issues with grip it's great.

I did a 1rm of 300lbs and I can do a set of 5 at 275lbs (185lbs, 6'2" trying to leave hungry skelly mode)

Double over hand grip is starting to fail me though, which is somewhat worrying.

Is it normal if I don't ever feel the 'burn' in any muscle group when doing deadlifts?

When squatting, I can feel my quads heat up, and glutes in a smaller way.
When benching, I feel my pecs.
When doing OHP, I feel my shoulders.

But when deadlifting I don't feel any muscle bearing the load.
I just feel increasingly tired all over with every rep, but it's like no particular muscle is performing the exercise and more like the bar is magically sapping my strength from my whole body.

Rate my deadlift routine:

60 kg / 1 Pl8 x 15 reps warm up set
100 kg / 2 Pl8 x 15 reps
130 kg / 285 lbs x 10 reps
180 kg / 4 Pl8 x 5 reps
220 kg / 1 Pl8 x 5 reps
130 kg / 285 lbs 3x10

Lifting since about 3 1/2 years. Feels pretty good

Do you have a dedicated DL-only day or something?
People usually warm-up and gradually go up in weight after they hit 2pl8, but damn, they usually do like 3 reps per weight increment, because your body is already plenty warm from the rest of your exercise, and deadlifts should always be done at the end of your lifting day.

You do cardio-tier amounts of reps for maybe the most un-cardio-like exercise there is.

>>37374368

120 kg 1x3 for couple of years now. I've already came in terms with the fact that I might be retarded but I'm doing it for general fitness so it's kinda alright
I still die inside a little every time i deadlift though.
>>
>>37374368
wut. it's not like the weight is anchored to your lower back. the pressure gets distributed over all discs.

>>37374324

Finally back up to 315x3 after like, a year and a half off due to work. I never had a strong DL though, maxed out at 390 once. Dropped them in favor of RDLs.
>>
>>37380228

No, it's the beginning of my back day.
Back day looks like this:

Deadlifts (as mentioned above)
Stiffed leg deadlifts
T-Bar rows (with barbell, not some machine)
Abs Machine (that dere core strength)
Arnold Press
Dumbell rows
Lying Incline row
Cable Pulldown
Seated Cable Rows

Low amount of reps is purely for strength, but I have a well trained back. Especially my lower back due my deadlift routine.
Moreover I love it. The way I do deadlifts I get dizzy and it feels like being alive & borderline dead. It's so fucking exhausting.

Takes me about 2 hours.

1.5 plate 5x5 twice a week, however I feel it might be too stressing on my CNS

465 is my best

I'm a shit deadlifter relative to my squat, which is 425. I see guys who Squat 3plate and can out DL me by 100+lbs. My form must be holding me back.

>>
Last time I maxed I managed to pull 200 kg beltless conventional after squats, think I could do 210-215 now. Bw is 82 kg.
>>
>>37377913
If you're doing 4 sets of 5 across on the diddlylift you're not pulling anywhere near your max, newfriend.
>>
>>37379865

Seems like a lot of reps warming up. And you back off really hard to a weight that isn't very challenging. If you're pulling 220kg then 130 isn't going to be giving you much stimulation.

If I had to take that workload and adjust it I'd probably do something like:

60 x 10
120 x 5
160 x 3
190 x 1
220 x 1
200 x 3 x 3
160 x 10
>>
>>37374324
50kg and that even in Bad Form, everytime i get backpain from it

last max was a month ago and i got 375. higher now im sure, 5'7 165 lb.
