I've read about how the labeled caloric content in whiskey shouldn't be taken 1:1 in terms of it's energy contribution as with the 3 main macro's. It's allegedly significantly less, so although a 1.25oz shot of whiskey may say 100 cals, as far as how you might track it could in effect truly be closer to 50cals (making the number up, idk). Sounds like broscience and wishful thinking.

Any insight?

Well, alcohol is 7 kcals/gram, when you put it in a bomb calorimeter. But those are more efficient than the body is, and since alcohol isn't one of those "necessary for life" macros, the human body isn't really geared towards metabolizing it.

Basically, yes, not all the calories count, but for simplicity's sake, go ahead and count them. I mean, the only thing you'd be drinking where the sole source of calories is from the alcohol is Everclear (not that there's anything wrong with doing a shot of Everclear before you go out to maximize your pregaming). Pretty much every other alcohol you have has calories from sugar and other assorted carbs.

Quest got (unsucesfully) sued because the calories they list on their label don't reflect all the cals from carbs. At the time the FDA was allowing companies to only account for 40% or something of calories from carbs that are derived from sugar alcohols and fiber. The debate is wether or not that is misreprenting the true calories in the bars. And the followup question would be, should we just assume 0 calories from carbs that come from fiber/sug alchs, remove that 40% inclusion altogether, driving the "advertised" calorie count even lower on those foods that use those ingredients.

Even more complicated when people who are dieting low carb (diabetics especially) have different GI tolerances, some spike from sugar alchohols some don't. Those who still spike allege that foods that rely heavily on them shouldn't be allowed to be labeled "low carb" when they are in fact "low net carb".

blueberry biscuits recipe (note these aren't UK biscuits/cookies, they are US style biscuits...not sure what they would be called over the pond)

1/4 cup unflavored protein powder
2/4 cup coconut flour
1/4 all purpose flour
115g plain fat free greek yogurt
70g blueberries
1tsp baking powder
2 tsp butter extract (optional for added buttery flavor @ 0 cals)

~600 cals 40g protein

mix all in bowl, should be somewhat clumpy and dry. add 1 tablespoon of water at a time, mix in until you're able to form one giant ball of dough. careful with the water, add more or less as necessary.

flatten onto lightly floured surface, cut out six biscuits, PAM a baking sheet, bake on 400F for 10-12mins. dip in vanilla fat free greek yogurt and/or peanut butter (if you can afford the extra calories) for added deliciousness. I eat these 4 or 5 times a week, love em.

No picture, but i had like 1/4 a chicken breast and 1/3 cup rice (cooked), plus a gin and diet tonic. Had 3 egg whites and a whole egg for breakfast but i cant eat anymore. On the plus side im cutting so its not horrible.

Fuck I hate these kind!!!! That's not a pizza, the cheese is meant to be on top do the flavor condenses when it's cooked... That thing is an abomination... Just like Chicago itself it's like some culinary retard looked at a pizza and just thought of the worst way to fuck it up deliberately
