I've been eating clean since i've started working out, and reaching the goal caloric intake requires eating such a high volume of food. I used to eat a lot more calorie-dense junk-food.

My question is, aside from reaching macros, are all calories equal ? Does it matter whether you get carbs from apples or cake ? White bread or brown bread ? saturated/unsaturated fats ?

Fat loss is purely a game of burning more calories.

Building muscle is a much more intricate process, where the nutritional content of each calorie matters.

In a vacuum all calories are equal and in a sense so are macros, so yes 5g of carbs from cake is the same as 5g of carbs in an apple, but you can't remove all the other shit in a cake when you eat from, from the preservatives to the processed garbage and micros you can't account for.

Calories in and calories out. It's all about energy balance.

My TDEE on workout days is about 4,500. Since I'm not on a cut I usually keep it to 6 small meals in order to activate my metabolism. The goal is to lose 2 lbs per week so I cut around 500 calories a day depending if I do cardio or not with my IF schedule and dose of Yohimibine. Here is a sample of my daily meals.

Meal 1-3 : Diet Cherry Pepsi and a scoop of whey.

Meal 4-6: Pint of Ben and Jerrys(not per meal)
