Depending on body fat percentage - find maintainance calories, subtract 500 for 1 lb a week loss or subtract 1000 for 2 lb a week loss. Adjust every 10 lbs or so. The higher the body fat percentage, the harder you can cut. With psmf, that's thrown out the window and just do whatever the book tells you to do.

Depends on why they lack will-power, you know? If someone's been dicking around for months cutting halfhearted their past defeats can become a sticking point.

They stick to a PSMF for a week, step on the scale, and bam - they lost more weight in a week than they did before in a month. That can be enough to push you through the next week - less water weight drops this time, but progress is killer. Another week - another 3 to 5 pounds down.

Of course weight loss slows down, that's why you cycle these things for 4 to 6 weeks. So not only did you drop 20 pounds of fat in about a month, you had a month of strict eating habits. That's the carry over that counts.

At that point, you've got a choice. I mean, hey you were so good for a month, why not treat yourself? Or you can stick to maintenance for 2 weeks and get back on another cycle. Suddenly you're steam-rolling.

I'd never tested my max before so I did the cycle with a little less than my estimated 1RM. I think that was a mistake b/c 90% singles were pretty easy. Serious answer: Inflating maxes is a useful tool when using programs that are not directly made for you by a coach who has been training you.
There's no cookie cutter solution for intermediate and advanced lifters, everyone will respond to intensity and volume differently.
So customising "cookie cutter" intermediate/advanced programs is part of what you should do in order to get the best results (at least after you try it as is once and get some experience with it).

Just don't overdo it.

I can get the x260 for 1150 with an i5, 8gb ram and i have a spare 500gb ssd that i would throw in. But the problem is its s 1366 x 768 screen and you have to buy the i7 base model to get full hd.

Surface is a bit pricier like 1350 for i5, 4gb and 128gb ssd the price isn't that much of an issue.

first off, I don't disagree with the statement that more work = more results.

the reason I said that you should be doing the minimum you can while still progressing is because I don't think you should be looking for the fastest possible results, but what you can sustain for the longest time. this is why I did the medium load sheiko instead of large load (for example). say I do large load twice and get good results, then do it a third time and stall, wat do from there? when there just isn't a sheiko with more work?

obv there are other programs from sheiko, but if I know that style programming works for me, I would want to stick with it for as long as possible (same reason I did c6w 6 times back to back, did the same exact workouts for the first 6 months of my lifting career, and the same sheiko twice in a row).

SO to wrap up, the reason I said I think it makes sense to do the least you can do while still progressing is not because I think less work = more results, but because I think less = more sustainable, less susceptibility to injury, and better long-term progress (hopefully by way of avaoiding walls as best as possible). and programming like that has worked out ok for me so far. granted maxing every session is pretty aggressive, but that was before I really had any idea what I was doing outside of "just add weight to the bar lmao"
