You can also add a raw egg (pasteurized only) and some cooked/seasoned meat and onion.
What kinds of rice have you tried? Im a fan of basmati it has almost popcorn taste to it. Also a big fan of jasmine. If you're buying uncle Ben's quick rice you're just asking for flavorless starch.
