/fit/-sama I did my first pull up today.
A-are you p-p-proud of me?
No I honestly don't give a fuck.
Did you people not play outside as kids? I could always do pull ups
Get back to us when you can do 10.
>>37307413
good job
I remember when I did my first proper pull-up, I was 19 or so
>>37307445
That's pathetic bro
>>37307429
I was an inside child.
Computers (not video games)
Science books
Making things
Wood work
Electronics
Learnt languages, I speak 4, fluently.
Etc.
Only played outside when I was forced to, and I never got on with the kids my own age. Always got along better with adults.
Even at 2 years old I'd sit and speak with the teacher instead of playing with the other kids.
Now I'm an engineer. The autism never dies.

Get the fuck back from where you saved that faggot pic
>>37307481
>I was born doing pull-ups
>Raised myself with them
>>37307537
>Raised myself with them
That's the entire point you retard
>>37307563
Not everyone was active as a kid.
It's possible to grow up weak and skinny or fat and get stronger later in life.
You sound like a newfag desu
>>37307531
You say that like it couldn't have been saved from literally ANY thread on /fit/. You're on an anime imageboard, faggot.
>>37307413
Good job OP. Keep pushing yourself and get that number up higher.
>>37307413
Only if you started from a dead hang, kept your scapula retracted for the duraction of the pull up, and touched the bar to your upper sternum, then slowly lowered yourself back to hang position.
If you did all that, then yes, i am very proud.
If not, i am still proudish, but you havent dont a proper pull up, yet.
>>37307609
Whoosh.......
only if you let me put penis in vagina
>>37307647
Everything apart from touch the scapula. Got my chin over the bar though.
>tfw still doing lat pulls
>tfw they're still 70 pounds under my body weight
Makes me wonder if I'm just doing something fundamentally wrong because apparently my lats are astronomically weaker than the rest of me.
>>37307686
I thought that too. Fuck the lat pulldown. Assisted pull ups are superior. Do the movement you're training for.
It's like expecting to go from a bodyweight leg press to a bodyweight squat. Doesn't work that way.
>>37307429
Not OP, but I couldn't do pullups until this month (I'm 21 now). It's really a lot harder if you had no athletic history as a kid; there's so much lost ground that you have to make up.
>>37307681
Breddy good.
Over time just work on pulling that bar lower and lower.
By the time you are hitting your upper stomach/lower chest for reps, you will have the strength for a muscle up (assuming you have the dip strength, and the form down)
Weighted chins are undoubtedly the best for lat strength. Yate's row a close second.
Congratulations. You know all the times in movies and TV when people can't climb over the ledge of a cliff and they fall to their death? You're better than those people now. Keep at it.
>>37307430
Not OP, I can only do 5.
How do I reach 10?
>>37307612
> ANY thread on /fit/
your filename says no. faggot reeee
>>37307853
Lose weight.
>>37307813
A pull up is not the same as a muscle up
>>37307563
Gottem
>>37307911
180 cm 63 kg DYEL, not a fatass
I wanna do 10 pushups dangit
>>37307983
If you ONLY care about more pull ups, and not being stronger, then check out
http://www.50pullups.com
If you want to make serious gains, start doing weighted chin up and yate's row with linear progression.
When you can chin up lmao1pl8, then focus on volume training.
You should hit 10 strict pull ups well before you get 1pl8 chinx5
You could do a RPT style double progression model, where your first one or two sets you do 4-6 reps for the strength response (adding weight when you hit 6 reps) then follow it up with one or two sets of 8-10 rep (adding weight when you hit 10 reps)
This way you are developing strength endurance, as well as strength, and getting slightly more volume than 3x5 for more growth.
I would do linear progression for as long as possible before switching to double progression, though

10/10 reply

Losing weight is the best option, using a band or having someone hold your feet are also possible.
Instead of doing arms, do an entire workout based around pullups, do five per set, have the handicap when your arms turn weak. When your arms start to die take a break and than get back to it, two at a time.
Once you can do 10+ without having muscle failure, just do them regularly as often as possible.
You can very easily lose your current rep count if you slack off on pullups.
>>37307983
Keep doing them every few days. I am 177, 64kg dyel and can do 10 pull ups.
When I was at 5 max I used to do as many sets to failure that it totaled 60 pull ups. (at the end usually only did 1 pull up per set)
Then let it rest for few days.
My max slowly went up and I am at 10 now.
