Many never will even do free lifting, they will stick to machines. also, sometimes at first we are clumsy with form and just trying to get into learning the exercises. All legit reasons to play it safe with lighter free weights. We learn, move up, get better. It just takes a bit.

Because weak and put on muscle slower maybe? I just barely started consistently lifting in March. Started out incline db press at 12.5 weight, moved up to 15's and then just last week moved up to 17.5. I tried 20's on Monday but couldn't even get to 5 without having the shittiest form possible. Also it's very difficult for me to do just the bar on bench but I have only been lifting the bar for like 3 weeks. Like I said it's slow as fuck. Looking forward to being able to get to 8 reps with 20 lbs though.

It's stupid programs full of light weights or like "100 bodyweight squats, 100 situps" stupid isolation exercisizes with like 5lbs and on and on.
