Free weights have a place in the gym as well as any machine. I use leg press for isolation, to retrain, out of boredom for a change and when the free weights are being used by others.

Start working on your flexibility. I started spending 10-15 minutes stretching post workout. It has helped tremendously. A full squat is much more comfortable and easier than before.

I do a lot of leg work, and enjoy squats and leg press, there's nothing wrong with doing leg press so long as you're not using it to replace squats, the squat is a whole body movement that incorporates a lot more muscles and balance than the leg press, for anybody who doesn't like front squat, try the goblet squat, I use a kettleball with them and find it a really good warm up exercise.

Any DYEL stuff:

>Using the punchbag.
>Being on a treadmill for anything more than 15 minutes.
>Lifting gloves.
