If you have any interest in barbell benching, I'd recommend you pick up a Slingshot and a light resistance band.
I found it pretty much impossible to bench in a way that hurt my shoulders with a Slingshot, and once you get the form down with that, you will find it easier to bench properly without one too.

Why don't you just run the actual Texas Method program? You literally cut the heavy day where you test your max out, aka, the whole point of the program.

If you want your bench to go up train within a lower rep range and get more volume in that way. You're barely putting any volume within the >=85% range and expect your strength to go up? Like seriously, 3x5 once per week at maybe 80% is god awful.

Benching 2 plates I think is still a pretty good achievement. I read an article that about 12% of the world male populated can max out at 225 or above and about 50% of routine lifters can 1RM it. I achieved 225 senior year in high school. Before I graduated I got 225 for 17 reps but my 1RM wasn't very high (270). Started lifting seriously 6 months ago and my strength never really went away, did 225x10 yesterday. I'm the guy with weak legs cause I think achieving 3 plates is god like and seems really hard to achieve, the most I ever squatted in high school was 290 and I got 225x2 yesterday. I never dead lifted ever in my life and just started a month ago and yesterday got 275 for 5 reps and 305 for 1. I guess some people are stronger in different areas

anyone else been lifting for a long time (3+ years) and still dont bench 2 plates?

i have never run a strength program and dont have a lifting partner which makes me feel too self-conscious to try heavier weight on a bar because i have no one to lift it off of me. i usually just dick around with the 90 dumbbells

There's so many different types of training that it depends on how you like to train. Do you like something working up to a heavy single then doing volume, try an RTS program, do you like doing shit tons of sets at medium-ish intensity, try sheiko, there's so many to pick from just look on some site that has a repository of programs. Tons of methods work, there is no "best", what matters most is how you like the training style.

Well, going to the gym and doing stuff unplanned isn't terrible, but usually the problem is you lack some form of progression, I wasted a shit ton of time doing this too and not really progressing very much. Having some structure to your program that regulates the volumes you do over time or some metric to progress may not be noticeable day to day but over weeks you'll see you're doing quite a bit more weight.
Just do some research and find a method you like and that you can handle.

You know I worked on my arch and being explosive. Within a month I went from a 180 bench to a 205 bench. I'm 6'8 and have a 3pl8 squat and a 4pl8 dead and a 1pl8 ohp so I'm sure 225 is in me I just gotta arch and widen my grip to compensate for my huge ass wingspan

Beginner weight is a stretch sure, but 225 for a single rep is not anything special. I think for a normal person after a year of lifting it is a very reasonable number
