What are some good products to use on your hair when it's long?
I've always had short hair and have no idea how to take care of this shit.

stop washing it with products. In the first weeks your hair will get fat, but that dissapears after a month or 2. In the first weeks only wash it twice a week, then 1 time a week and later 1 time in 2 weeks. Still wash it with water though, Only using cold water is even better.
>>
>>37250648
OP here
I haven't used shampoo or conditioner in years. So that's definitely not a problem. I'm thinking more about creams and shit like that. It always looks kinda dry in the tips.
>>
Just cut it. Unless you're a hippie, a casanova relying on his hair to fuck sluts, or a homeless person, long hair isn't acceptable in society.

I shampoo and condition it every other day, sometimes if I'm going out then I'll use just a tiny bit of conditioner on the tips in order to more easily untangle it when I brush it. It's thick, but manageable. Brush it before I leave and it looks okay but I keep a hairband in my pocket just encase it's particularly windy on the day and I need to tie it in order to manage it.

>In ancient Greece, long male hair was a symbol of wealth and power, while a shaven head was appropriate for a slave. The ancient Greeks had several gods and heroes who wore their hair long, including Zeus, Achilles, Apollo, and Poseidon. Greek soldiers are said to have worn their hair long in battle. Such warriors considered it a sign of aristocracy and are said to have combed it openly in order to show off.

Checked, I lied about the civil part. I am actually a systems guy, specializing in fudge delivery optimization. Since I started, we are packing 23% more fudge per liter. By using organic polymers, we were able to improve fudge consolidation without increasing the size of the packing mandrel.

>>37251003
Literally everyone remembers me. Most of the company is fat or obese, and all the men have short hair and are often balding. By defying this norm, I made my presence more notable as I worked to solve the QC problems that we had before I started.

Just because you're bald doesn't mean the rest of us have to be bald too.
>>
>>37250497
Having had longer than average hair for a while in uni I must impress upon you the importance of conditioner. It stops your hair tangling, which is a lifesaver; especially if you're like me and have curly as fuck hair.

Even if you have 2-in-1 shampoo and conditioner, it's enough. It's the difference between spending ten minutes with a comb pulling knots out of your hair after a shower and not needing to ever look at a comb again.
>>
>>37253090
try getting into senior or even middle management with long hair, it won't happen. if you're content with being a senior engineer for the rest of your life then it's fine. as the dress code gets stricter, long hair and big beards become less acceptable.

I needed to ask about my hair anyway

I keep them short-medium and those fuckers always look like shit (pic related) after washing them with a shampoo for like 2 days: they are very dry and feel rough in touch, ugly and thick as fuck and impossible to style without lots of hair products (looks ridiculous then).

After 2 days they get oily and look good but then after another day they get too oily and I gotta wash them again.

How do I fix this?

Yep, same problem. I have medium long hair, too much shampoo and my hair goes from slick as fuck to silly old people hair. I tried the whole no shampoo thing for exactly one week and that's when I could just not take it anymore and started using again. That's when I found out that when your hair is really oily, and you use shampoo, some of that oiliness retains, and you will basically have perfect hair.
What works perfectly for me is use very little shampoo, next day don't use shampoo at all, repeat. I need to balance it perfectly, otherwise it'll get too dry or too oily.

Best advice I can give is to wash it w/ no shampoo 6 days a week, on an off day wash it w/ shampoo (I use a keratin smoothing shampoo). Let it stay dripping wet when you get out of the shower and let it dry on its own. Don't lay down, comb it back with your fingers and let it dry in a nice position. After maybe half an hour I rub in a squirt or two of nice scented lotion, this can be cocobutter/coconut oil/jergens/whatevs. Massage it, play with it, splash it from time to time, and after an hour you should be ready to go. I get it wet once or twice throughout the day to get it back into shape, being in a warehouse sucks all the moisture out and static makes it stand up. If you put too much lotion in it, get it real wet again and massage it out, maybe dab it w/ a paper towel. Some days will be better than most, always keep a hat if you're in a pinch and can't do anything to it.

Castor oil is said to help with hair growth/thickness, and I've heaps of anecdotal evidence but you really ought to try it for yourself.
All you do is rub a few drops on your fingertips then massage it into your scalp and leave it for several hours/overnight and wash it out. It is an absolute bitch to wash out, though, so be warned.

In terms of supplements, collagen, biotin, and lycopene promote good hair as well.

Lastly, if you just really love smearing weird shit into your hair, try either almond oil or coconut oil as a deep conditioner. Also, at least comb your shit every now and then or you'll look homeless.
