my snatches weren't that bad toward the end of my weightlifting career
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X_Ct9beJCM4&ab_channel=JackDurkin

Early arm bend is because i have permanent scar tissue internally around my pubic bone that i cant even touch without intense pain. so i started pulling it higher into my gut area.

if my LCL is torn im probably gonna quit. I'm 22 and both of my knees are already fucked up. plus I'm made for powerlifting. If its just a sprain I might just quit until the work season is over and start training full time. ALSO another possibility is i save up enough to do a good cycle of GH and fix all my problems...

Work on your entire lowerbody mobility. Just don't stretch if you feel it's inflamed, let it rest for a couple of days in that case.

What's the 'real' reason klokov retired that Jon norf alluded to in his podcast?

'Me and you [Jared enderton] know the real reason, and I'm not gonna give it away, but we plan to have him on the show to explain why'

So, it's not juice related if it's gonna be discussed and revealed. Anyone heard anything on the grapevine or is Jon just being a crackhead
>>
>>37229541
They won't let him compete anymore, coaches don't like old athletes the same reason why most athletes in those countries retire really once they get past a certain age

He was talking about it on some of his old YouTube videos
>>
>>37229541
>So, it's not juice related if it's gonna be discussed and revealed.

not sure about that. I thought the general thought was that klokov failed an internal drug test that showed he would have popped at the olympics. and with akkaev injured, no russian medal.

And with that plus his age, he became unwelcome.

How the fuck is that fair, considering tendon, ligament, muscle fiber density, bone density, and so on being superior in males compared to biological females? Look at the rate of, say, ACL tears in women compared to men, or joint size, etc - it's an unfair advantage, albeit one not easy to quantify in fully transitioned athletes, which is why it should be addressed from the get-go.

>>37236772

I don't compete, so I don't really care much about it.
But we have no evidence so far if the genetic benefits outweighs the extremely low test levels (much lower than natty women's levels, muuuuch lower than olympic women's levels).
Keep in mind HRT changes bone density and etc.

Only future will tell whether it's fair or not, and I'm sure the olympics will be adapting the rules as they go on.
But IIRC there was a mtf cyclist who failed to classify against women in 2012 or something.

Anyways, as I said, I don't compete.

>>
>>37239140
idk, that article just seems to hammer in the mindset anyone doing bulgarian training already has; that they're a unique special snowflake more hardcore than all those pussies who can't take it

it doesnt address the main problem that is that bulgarian training doesnt build a good foundation of technique, muscle and strength, although it does give good results this will very likely catch up with you sometime. and it doesnt seem to stress how more is not better or justify it well. he even goes to suggest more is better with diminishing returns, which imo is definitely not true. more training, even when it doesnt break you, isnt better, which is what he claims.

a lot of what he writes about the chinese system is not right, even for the guys at the ntc afaik

lyle is a bad writer who uses too many words and doesnt get the point across well, often saying things which are wrong due to lack of research/experience
>>
>>37239293
>Sorry but this is pretty stupid. You are just promoting mediocrity. In 3 years ppl are far away from being an expert in anything.
>Then you imply the Bulgarians were taking PEDs and the Americans don't. Say what? Any idea how many of the high level American sprinters were being caught in the last few years? >All of them.
>Then you say that a country with 7 Mio ppl population has an infinite pool of athletes to throw to the grinder or money to invest in PEDs. Um, no.
>And last - before writing about smtg it's advisable to get correct information about it. You didn't even know how to spell the name of one of the best coaches of all times in OL.
this is exactly the response i expected. lyle is a shit writer
>>
>>37239293
yea, it seems that his only source for chinese weightlifting is mastrength.

>>
>>37239385
the soviet system is just an overcomplicated form of common sense imo, which the chinese system strips away
meanwhile the bulgarian system is an autist taking things to extremes

I get u, because most of what we see of Soviet style system is complex silliness like Toro or klokov programs but there are some very basic principles to the system which can be used to create a simple program for a three day or whatever. Like that program pent is translating.

I think the main thing is the bulk of work % and the variation in volume and intensity is linked ofc but not quite the same as trad Western periodization

They were publicized. It's in the official olympic.org website.
http://www.olympic.org/Documents/Commissions_PDFfiles/Medical_commission/2015-11_ioc_consensus_meeting_on_sex_reassignment_and_hyperandrogenism-en.pdf

>the IOC Consensus Meeting agreed the following guidelines to be taken into account by sports organisations when determining eligibility to compete in male and female competition

The thing is that the new rules require at least year of testing before being allowed to compete. The new summer olympics are starting to happen already. So I don't think someone would be able to join under the current guidelines unless they've been in contact with the IOC since early 2015 or earlier.

But the guidelines are published, are already official for the olympics, and have already been adopted by some of the sports committees outside of the olympics (though they are not forced to adopt it).
What you seem to misunderstand is that the IOC are not making this a rule for every sports committee to follow on competitions outside the olympics. They're leaving that up to them for now.

Besides, mtf athletes have been allowed to compete ever since 2003-2004. They just needed SRS before, but now they don't.

But sure, the IOC is wrong and you're right. Transgender athletes are not allowed yet to compete in the olympics (even though they have before), the official papers don't mean anything.

Klokov and other Russian 105s were for sure gonna pop in London and quit.

Shortly after London was done, Ilya announced he was moving up to 105, and Klokov knew his chances of winning World Champs or Olympics became 0%, so he just cashed in on Crossfit and gear money.

Klokov had a bigger total than Ilya back in 2012. Ilya only got crazy high totals on 105kg recently.

And Ilya only won in 2014 against Nurudinov because of lighter bodyweight.

Ilya has shit Snatch though.

Does this count as a full snatch or a power snatch?
>>
>>37242922

And more recently Ilya smashed C&J record and broke total record and is showing no signs of slowing down.

He's never lost internationally, some were close, but still perfect record. Klokov has 1 world championship and no Olympic gold.
>>
>>37242696
>Quitting your career simply because new competition will come

Why would anyone do this?
>>
>>37243049
I wouldn't call him the best snatcher, but he's far from shit. Ilya's best is 191 kg I believe, which is not bad at all.
>>
>>37244321

If you were approaching end of your WL career and only thing you want to end with was 1st place at worlds or Gold in Olympics, and the guy who literally never loses enters your weight class... not a hard decision to make.
>>
>>37244397
>guy who literally never loses

It's not because 'this guy' is so good that he actually never loses, Ilya was just at the right place at the right time many times, which helped him keep his perfect record. Not saying he's a bad lifter though. Besides, klokov's biggest competition was never Ilya, it was Andrei Aramnau.

He got 196kg in training with straps before. Vid related

But compared to other 105kg lifters, his snatch does lag quite a bit behind.

>>37244397

That's not how professional athletes work.

>>37244261

Too low to be considered Power by most people. He squatted below parallel.
>>
>>37244439

Sigh... poor Aramnau. He was the one that would make 105 ultra competitive... it's a bit tragic what happened to him :(
>>
>>37244455
He usually gets bronze at the snatch almost every time he competes. That's pretty damn good for someone who doesn't really focus as much on the snatch than the C and J.
>>
>>37244535

I mean, he got gold every time he competed in a major comp...
>>
>>37244455
>>37244455
'Lag quite a bit behind' is pretty unfair

He was 3kilos behind best snatch at 14worlds and won snatch at presidents cup, only didn't win snatch on bw at Olympics

Can we stop the 'his snatch is lagging' meme? It clearly isn't.
>>
>>37245290

WWC 2014 105 only had shit Snatchers.

He hasn't competed in 105 in the olympics yet. His snatch was fine for 94

How do I deal with blood pressure drops?

To give you some context, I'm doing this routine : http://www.owresource.com/training/basictraining.php and I went for the PRs today, rocked an easy 80kg snatch, I was going for a c&j PR (going for 110kg), at 105kg I had troubles with my technique, I failed the lift a few times (didn't even try to get under it, the pull just sucked) so I did 2 clean pulls to practise, one I wasn't satisfied with, waited around 3 minutes, then one I was satisfied with, so I went for the clean right after and after I got up with the bar I had a huge pressure drop, I lost consciousness for a moment. I let the bar drop and fell to the floor (from what I remembered). It kind of felt like I was dreaming, I lost track of time, my ears were ringing and everything eventually fell right into place and I was absolutely fine shortly after. I got up and asked people around what happened from their perspective because at the time I couldn't remember anything after going for the clean and they told me I might have had a pressure drop, it's entirely possible because I know I have low blood pressure and I've had some pressure drops before when doing power snatches, it just hasn't happened to me on regular cleans and that fucking hard.

So I'd like to know what caused this so I don't let it happen again and I'd also like to know if you guys have a few tricks yourself to prevent this kind of thing.

I ate a huge bowl of spaghetti with a protein shake right before going to the gym and I slept well so I think it might've been exhaustion? Could the few clean pulls that I did before going for the lift have had that much impact on me? Should I have just went down a few pounds to practise and get my technique back before resuming?

Tagging trappy on this one because I know she's in med school >>37244967

>bar obstructing bloodflow
Should I have felt anything if that's the case? I remember pretty accurately what happened now. I'm pretty sure I jumped the bar a bit after the squat, but at that time my vision was already starting to get darker. At first I thought I'll wait a few seconds with the bar on my shoulders for it to pass before going for the jerk but then it got worse and I just dropped it and lost consciousness. I have the reflex of dropping the bar if something's wrong so I'm not worrying about that but I could see it being a problem if it starts happening often as the weight goes up.

I'll try breathing heavily, it's something I don't do enough when going for cleans or snatches because I'm too busy concentrating on the technique. I'll try taking that habit.
>>
>>37246537
no, dont breath very heavy with head down before lifting.

try right now standing with your head down, breath really fast and then lift your head very fast. you will get very light headed.

dont worry abt it senpai, youll probably be fine
>>
>>37246621
Oh ok it would be BECAUSE I breathed heavily. So just chill the fuck down? Can I keep doing cleans after? I just stopped and moved on to RDLs on this one.

I know I'll be fine, I just really don't want it to happen again because it fucked up the whole workout.
>>
>>37246650
yeah exactly, yeah stay controlled but aggresive, and you probably can try doing cleans again just wait a lil bit i guess
>>
>>37246249

Depending on where the bar is resting, it can block the bloodflow from the carotid arteries. This can black you out really quickly without you even noticing fast enough to react.

This video is a classic example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p0-wE5BjHyY

It's not an issue with food or anything, simply where you're resting the bar.
Do some rack holds so you find yourself a comfortable position. Don't put it on your neck, let it rest over your chest/shoulders. Hold your elbows up so that, and get a slightly wider grip if your forearms are proportionally long.

As for pressure drops when doing other stuff, what ob said is good.
>>
>>37246800
Alright I'll try that. Thanks a lot!

>>37246814
I'm not uncomfortable with the bar though, but I am getting marks on my neck every time I clean, so that might be it. I'll try to play around with it and find a better position. I feel like it might be hard to get used to though.

I just remembered that it really started while I caught the bar, so that's definitely it.

I just checked my neck and I have marks exactly where I feel the pulse. So I'll make sure to work on that. I'm really glad because I thought I might have a condition or something that would prevent me from going too heavy on the olympic lifts.

Thanks for your input trappy I love you <3

they're doing a hell of a lot better. Ensuring I don't do any legwork while my hams, calves, ITB and quads are tight have gone a hell of a long way. I will literally stop lifting for 10-15 minutes at a time to fix them if they flare up.

My back's been killing me though lol
