tBh it looks like you take a LONG time between reps and after unracking it.

You could try having more of a sense of urgency when you unrack it to get the set done. instead of breathing harder to catch your breath, taking a couple big deliberate breathes to get your brace.

yeah Gnuck talks about that.. basically when you hit a grind like that you need to shift your hips under the bar to improve your leverage. At the sticking point try to screw your feet out while getting hips under the bar. - this reduces the moment arm on your hips and allows you to make the lift.

also add some dedicated quad isolation if you haven't already.. looks like your shifting the load too far back because your quads could be weak, causing you to pitch forward

Your form looks pretty good for your weight. Looks A LITTLE BIT like you're hyperextending in order to keep your knees back but your chest up. It's basically a knees back OR chest up kind of thing, if that makes sense

>>37193368
My quads are most definitely behind my hamstrings and glutes but are almost definitely lacking the strength to do that second rep or 500 for a single.

Also this whole training cycle has been dedicated to putting in quad work. I may need to do a few compounds to get them to the degree that I want to

>>37193307
He isn't competing in Worlds this June?
>>
>>37193397
Gnuck has an article on it and a video sort of demonstrating how to do it. Basically you have to shift your body weight forward while attempting to maintain or straight your back angle. Think humping with your hips like you do when you lock out a deadlift and driving your shoulders back into the bar at the same time.

essentially that would change your torso angle, knees would drift forward slightly, but you wouldnt actually start climbing again until the hips got directly or close to under the bar again

Why does Norris do high reps/volume for everything, even deadlifts? I don't think he even does dedicated accessory work, just reps and reps of competition movements.
>>
>>37198101
He's so, ahh, genetically talented, that he can do damn near anything and get away with it.

That said, competition movements (or extremely close variants, eg pauses or beltless or tnhlg etc) should be at least two thirds of your training volume
>>
>>37198101

Volume makes mass. Muscle mass contributes to strength.

he's competing against the other most genetically gifted powerlifters on the planet. you can't get to the top level against the best competition on talent alone. everybody is talented. there is a reason behind the madness. his offseason routine at least is based about building work capacity and accumulating tons of mileage/volume.

sets of 10 tng deadlifts nail positioning better than you think. not everything has to be 3x5 or bust
>>

>>

As I said, he is "talented".

His training isn't smart that's for sure.
>>
>>37198257

The dirty secret of powerlifting is that most of the top guys, at least in the west, aren't genetically all that gifted.
>>
>>37198201
>He's so, ahh, genetically talented, that he can do damn near anything and get away with it
Are you saying his training is sub-optimal, or, rather, extraordinary?
>>37198221
So how far can you get working only in high rep ranges? Obviously you'd have to taper down sometime to test maxes and compete.
>>
>>37198300
>His training isn't smart that's for sure
Where is your proof? Where is your record-breaking total? How come your training appears to only take you so far?
>>37198304
>in the top
>not genetically gifted
Bullshit.
>>
>>37198308
The only person that sets limits is yourself. As long as there's progressive overload, there will be some sort of progress made
>>
>>37198322

The talent pool for powerlifting largely consists of people who lacked the genetic gifts needed to succeed in other sports (go ahead and count how many US powerlifters are failed footballers). Are they gifted compared to the average person? Generally yeah. Are they the genetic elite of athletes? Rarely.
>>
>>37198300
its funny how all of the best powerlifters in the world train in different methodologies and gain strength but you keep doing the same thing and making lolnogains and they are wrong.

its almost as if you've never even considered that you could be wrong
>>
>>37198338
>keep doing the same thing

But my own body sets the limits without my conscious say in the decision, and the only progressive overload is my patella and elbow tendons, with progress being tendinitis.
>>
>>37198345
Cuckley
>>
>>37198335
>>37198322

"talent" is kind of overrated for powerlifting. it is far more apparent in genetic gifts for certain lifts (i.e. long limbs in the deadlift or a wide core and short legs for the squat, etc.) they tend to balance out because nobody can have proportions that are advantageous for all three.

i'm not even sold that explosiveness is all that important. guys like brandon lilly and stan efferding have almost no explosiveness/athleticism whatsoever (at least compared to top athletes) but they always manage to grind out big weights.

i wouldn't be surprised if what we think of as "talent" is really just desire, dedication, and the capacity to eat a lot.
>>
>>37198323
>the only person that sets limits is yourself
Hahahahahaha I have some really depressing news for you.
>>
>>37198345
>>how come your training only takes you so far
>Lack of talent.

you were an extremely talented deadlifter but have made ridiculously little gains over the last several years and you just got fatter at the same bw lel.

you're a very untalented bencher and have made equally slow progress. if your methodology was lacking, how would you know?
>>
>>37198335
>consists of people who lacked the genetic gifts needed to succeed in other sports
But you can say that for many other sports. It's a baseless extrapolation.
>count how many US powerlifters are failed footballers
I don't know the numbers, but what I do know is all footballers partake in some form of weight training. It's possible this correlation is only apparent because gifted powerlifters have had the chance to realize their potential while training for football or whatever else; maybe they wanted to lift heavy weigh instead of cardio and drills, and training for football wouldn't allow that.
>>
>>37198346
Your body is part of yourself ;^)
>>37198355
You're not a world level competitor and I doubt anyone else is on this Malaysian spice trading forum. The average person can get better by trying harder (something you've never done before) whether it be a different variation of an exercise or a different rep scheme.

If you're under 400 wilks just keep trying

>>37198366
>equally slow progress in the bench

If that was the case, you'd expect those footballers to quit football to take up powerlifting. Not to only take up powerlifting once football has been taken away from them.
>>
>>37198410
>quit football, a progressional and prestigious sport where they are paid and given scholarships, for powerlifting, an amateur sport only a rare few have heard of

>>

>If that was the case, you'd expect those footballers to quit football to take up powerlifting
But you wouldn't, as PL is an amateur sport, and barely even a lucrative career for the lucky few.
>>
>>37198417

Most US footballers at the college level are on zero scholarship money.
>>
>>37198419
Cool, but do you pull as much as me? Let me educate you.

In March 2014 I benched 112.5kg and deadlifted 280kg

Now ny best deadlift is 287.5kg (but this was over a year ago and I'm not in that shape now) and I bench 150kg

>>37198450

>>
>>37198486

No, I mean they're literally getting no monetary value at all from their football. They're not on a scholarship.

No college footballers get actual money from their position. Its against the rules to pay them directly or indirectly.

>>
>>37198515

Kind of. There's a ridiculously complicated dance around what a school is actually allowed to pay for when someone is on a scholarship because of the NCAAs fucking retarded self-serving amateur-only provisions.

Which is irrelevant to most football players, since they're not getting shit in any case, but is pretty relevant to the higher tier players.

>>
confused noob here. Rip in ss says that bench to press workouts should be in a 1:1 ratio for healthy shoulders. The powerlifting to win guy says this isn't optimal for powerlifting. What do you guys suggest I do if I want to lift heavy and at the same not fuck up my shoulders
>>
>>37198785
Boat has no keel so you have to balance it with body weight. Main sheet has about 40kg of tension which.

You don't go fast unless you can work the boat for an hour at a time.
>>
>>37198804
Shut up we're talking about boats now
>>
>>37198804
Proper form, 3 bench sessions a week, 0 OHP, a lot of external rotation and rear delts.
>>
>>37198804

Do you care more about the biggest bench possible or a better chance of keeping your shoulders healthy? That'll tell you your answer.

Also recommend not listening too much to PTW. Textbook example of a guy who knows just enough to think he's an expert.
>>
Well Rip is wrong, even 1:1 bench to press ratio isn't healthy. Both trarget mostly the front delt.

You should do DB lateral raises / face pulls in your routine

Healthier shoulders. I Probably won't ever be competing at a level where I think it's a good trade off.
>>
>>37198872
Well, you do external rotation against resistance.

Face pulls also work external rotation - but you can optimize it by working with a cable, suppinating your hand and keeping your elbow pressed against your body.

Google for external rotation excercises and you will see what I mean.
