Intuition exists for a reason. People who look 'wrong' for whatever reason can provoke a negative reaction on the instinctual level. A lot of the time, there's a /very/ good reason for this.
Obese people are much more likely to have behavioural problems and mental health issues. I've no clue whether they're obese because of mental health issues or they have mental health issues because they're obese. It's probably a mixture of both.
They also tend to be weaker and more prone to illness and injury (again, whether obesity causes this or is a result of this is a bit chicken and egg.)
This all adds up to 'This person is more likely to be a burden to us.'

Boys are far more likely to be fat earlier in life, I don't understand why, but as males get older we have a tendency to realize either consciously or subconsciously that we are fat fucks and need to make a change. We are looked down on, even by fat women who say "only fit guys can get this" and because males rarely have anything handed to them, they either get fit or get crafty.
Women on the other hand tend to just get fatter as life goes on, when I go out to towns I see far more overweight-obese women, while males I tend to just see as chubby-overweight.

In statistics class we learned about how planes and trains design their seats usually to fit all but the most extreme top 5% of weight (obviously they couldn't make them fit everyone, you'd have to adjust for 500lb people). We had to calculate the chances that a fat person would get on the plane and have to overflow to another seat. Pretty funny stuff.

After being obese and then becoming /fit/ over the last two years I've started to feel nothing but disgust whenever I see fat people in public.
The problem is, my mom is one of them. I get angry as fuck whenever I see her stuffing her face with sweets or other unhealthy shit. Especially because I can sense the disappointment from my dad, as he's still almost as fit as he was when they got married over 25 years ago. Meanwhile, my mom never lost the weight she put on after giving birth to me and my brother, which is a shame because judging from old photos of her she was really slim and good-looking. She also already has diabetes because of her unhealthy lifestyle, but instead of even trying to exercise she keeps on injecting more and more insulin.
I can feel that this issue is slowly ripping apart their marriage. My brother already left and moved to his gf's place because he couldn't stand the frequent arguments anymore. I don't just want to run away, as it doesn't solve anything - I don't think I'll be able to really change her mindset at all though. I just feel so bad for my dad, but I also feel bad for blaming my mom even though it's obvious she's the one to blame - but she's still my mother after all.
How do I deal with these feels /fit/, so far I just tried to ignore them and go lift instead, but at some point I won't be able to lift the feels anymore

That is fucked. Sleep apnea in fat people is caused by the excessive weight pushing down on their lungs and throat, causing excessive snoring (because the body works twice as hard to get air in) and sudden pauses in breathing.

I'm in the same boat anon. My father works out and tries to keep himself as fit as his 65 year old body will let him. My mom on the other hand went way down hill after giving birth to me.
She used to be really skinny and physically active. Even my dad used to have trouble keeping up with my mom when they would go on bike rides together before they had me. Then her mother died and their marriage began to strain and she never really recovered.
She doesn't eat horribly or stuff her face with junk food, but she cant do anything physical. walks tire her out and she can barely lift anything above 20 lbs without getting tired. I dont really get to spend time with her anymore because she never wants to do anything. Work stresses her out to the point when she just wants lay in her bed for the rest of the day.
Whenever I try to get her to do something physical she suddenly gets extremely defensive and we end up getting into arguments. My father has already told me that he'll outlive her and he's ten years older than her.

I've started getting nightmares- I mean I have nightmares every night, but these are different. I get attacked and the terror is so real that I wake up screaming. The first one was fairies- they snuck into my room and clawed at my neck with their giant mantis hands. Last night I got down on the floor to look at something under my dresser and something grabbed the back of my neck. I couldn't scream or move. The screams just build up in my throat until I wake up with a tiny wail.

You see, sleep paralysis comes with hallucinations. You can feel, see, hear and sometimes smell your nightmares.
My worst one was being stuck in the web of a giant spider. Big as a whale. I could feel the weight of it's feet as it closed in on me, and then it laid down on top of me in my dream and I couldn't breathe. I woke up, paralysed, with my eyes closed and I could still fucking feel it. It was something heavy crushing my chest in. I heard the crackling noises of it's joints and felt the scruffy little hairs or whatever on my skin.
I couldn't scream or move for an eternity, and when I did make a sound it was some kinda gargle that woke me up completely.
Fuck that. Fuck that so much.

Even if you think you're not getting it often you might have it every night. Have a sleep study (don't know if this is the proper English term: you sleep a night or two in the hospital and medical personnel observe your sleep) done so the doctors know whats up. Afaik the fix is fairly easy and effective after you get used to it.
