I'm gonna agree with Bodorio here. I have an IQ of around 150-155, worked just hard enough in college to get summa cum laude, and now have a comfy six figure programming job.
However, one of my friends from college is just about as smart as me but lazy as fuck. He got a 2400 SAT, but skipped class and didn't do his homework a bunch of the time, so he graduated college with a 2.9. He's making terrible money now even though he's really smart.

Intelligence definitely makes it easier to have a great salary, but you can't just sit on your ass and make bank.

I haven't done conventional for over a year since i hurt my back at work, only started dead-lifting again 4 months ago, and squatting about 9 months ago

I had a 110kg deadlift and 85kg squat about a year ago when i first started weightlifting, then hurt my back at work to the point of being unable to walk for a week.

now i'm going to get my conventional dead-lift up to at least 90% of my sumo
I'm also working on hook grip, did my main set with double overhand but am trying to use hook grip for my warm up sets until it feels more natural.

On topic: Been pretty fuckarounitus with my lifting but want to start getting serious and going to meets.

Currently running Greg Nuckols Intermediate routine (heavy doubles and plenty of accessories). Which by running that routine I mean doing the fun half and then going home without doing most of the accessories. 21 y/o 194lbs 11%BF. Last I tested: 275 bench, 400 squat, 480 DL.

Signed up for my first meet on August 20. It's AAU so it has a 198 class. Not sure how to train for it. I could keep doing my current routine for the volume to try and bulk those last four lbs. Also been thinking of trying out the bulgarian method since my lifts are still low for my amount of musculature. I haven't done many singles since I started lifting so I'm wondering if all that singles practice would be good for me. Or I could just get serious and actually do all the hypertrophy I'm skipping to try and get those last four lbs. What is more important, the singles practice or the weight?

Could do a little of column A, little of column B. Do 4 weeks bulgarian, 1 week deload, 6 weeks current routine, 2 weeks overreaching, 1 week deload? Not actually sure how to do the overreaching+deload for peaking either since I never did deload weeks.

Usually twice per week.
Had a nice rage fap today (though a bit painful, my butt is still hurting hours after) after a ridiculously bad workout in the gym.
Tried to increase my C&J frequency to see how my body would handle and the results have been a disaster. I had a terrible workout last time, but today was J U S T.
My technique broke down really hard, massively. I wasn't even able to squat down to catch the bar properly. Didn't help that I was doing it from a big deficit either (8cm), it threw my tempo and rhythm off really hard.
I don't even wanna describe what happened.

So yeah I can't recover from high frequency with heavier stuff like the C&J. I think I just don't have enough test and my bulking attempt is pretty pathetic. I'll quit the C&J until tuesday, and go back at it with no more deficit, and focusing on light volume and technique work. I'll stick to training it twice per week, and not so intense every workout... works better for me.
My snatch is still fine though, even got to lift 90% with pretty good form after the massive disasters that were the other lifts... weirdly enough.

Also my knees are feeling reckt from all the front squatting and cleaning. I just wanna go back to comfy lowbar tbqh senpai.

but fwiw, I don't think there is any actual problem with what you're doing (the pop, the bar path I am almost certain should be fixed). I don't see any reason to slow down at the top, just seems like you would arbitrarily be making the lift harder than it is. Slowing down on the descent could be useful for some people (I'm not telling you to do that), but I don't think slowing down on the way up makes a lot of sense.
