You're mom is shit-qualty.
There's no such thing as a "complete" or "incomplete" proteins. There are only different amino acids, different kind of foods have different amino acids. Some foods (like meats) have (usually) all the amino acids. You can have'em all with grains and legumes too.
Proteins from cereals and legumes are less bio-available for humans. About 15% less. But they don't trigger IGF-1 and colon cancer that much.
A varied diet including mixed wheats/cereals/legumes (targeting ~117% of the equivalent meat protein intake) is only beneficial for you. Most westerners (and among them, most americans) are eating too less fibres.
