It's true at a uni level you the chinks, pakis, daves, tyrones, etc end up segregated from each other like U.S. prison, but once you make it past that to a graduate scheme at any of the big firms I found the segregation breaks down. Most people aren't very strong. That includes most of the people who go to the gym.
Despite /fit/'s rampant estatting, it's a community of people who take lifting seriously, and that means a higher concentration of people who can actually move daddy weight.
Even at 'serious' gyms, the number of people who can meet basic strength standards is a tiny fraction of the total membership. I've seen fewer than 5 people at my current gym squat more than 3pl8 (not counting the odd half-repper) and one of them is the owner. I've seen ONE other person deadlift 4pl8, not for reps (and that was with a belt after he tried and failed to do 4.5.) I've seen a couple with benches over 100kg, but generally with shitty technique. I've never seen anyone other than me OHP.
