Started cut in Dec. Cut went well until Apr. Kept diet decent for the last month but slacked at the gym so I kept the weight off. 5'10 230-206. I Diet is at 1800cal. I really want to do an aggressive cut over the next 3 months to get down to 180 before school starts. Any tips?

1800 cals with 35/35/30 P/C/F macros for the first 10 weeks. 1600 cals with 50/25/25 in the last two because of a weekend-long alcohol binge. Don't trip up like I did brehs, shit fucking sucks.

Much appreciation, man. Eggs, Raisin Bran, whey powder with water, smoked salmon, Healthy Choice Steamers, Clif Bars, chicken thighs (I fucking hate white meat), skim milk.

If I was in a rush in the morning, I'd nab a Nutrition Energy Mix and Naked Protein Smoothie from QT. Shit like tuna and fresh vegetables are great for quick snacks too.

Hello /cut/bros, soon-to-be former fatty here.

Any cardio friends here? After just over a month of running and dieting I just completed my first non-stop mile at 10:12. My long term goal is to get up to doing 3 miles in under 25 minutes and to do that 5 days a week.

Right now should I try to get my 1 mile time down to about 8 minutes or should I just work on getting up to doing 2 miles? The main objective is fat loss.

Progress Picture shows 20lbs lost over the first 3 months. Started at 280lbs after camping trip.

Both of my parents have been fat my whole life, 300lbs+. I've always been afraid to ask what their weight is exactly. I have been struggling with my obesity since I was 13; I'm 24 now. I take 100% responsibility for my obesity and I am an adult now.

> be me 13 years old, homeschooled eagle scout
> doing bjj/mma stuff on tuesday and thursday nights
> college aged bigger dude took me down pretty hard
> go to doctor
> says minor back injury
> prescribes me pain meds and tells me to loose weight
> quit bjj and pick up everquest raid leader full time
> be 24 now
> christmas just finished, getting ready for 2016
> girl problems, break it off with "minimum wage" girlfriend
> "the one" I actually like isn't attracted to me, surprise surprise
> be 280lbs
> be sad, quit job because don't give a fuck
> two days later go out in the woods with friends for a week
> first time in life have a number of paradigm shifting psychedelic sessions the whole time we were out there, we did it all
> hate myself a little less, and realise I'll always have regrets
> realise I can never change what I did/who I was in the past, but I can be at my best right now
> can use regrets as fuel to work on myself
> attachment is selfish
> you'll never kiss the girl
> still sad, but realise being fat gross's me out
> fat people gross me out
> stop stuffing my face like the glutton I am, and set new protocols in place

Basically, I'm focusing on eliminating my bad habits. No more chinese buffet, no more sweet tea or anything thats not water or black plain coffee. 1900 calories a day max. Only eat between the hours of 11am and 5pm. I try to eat vegetables every day and severely limit carbs.

As of this morning, post shit, I weight 249.3lbs, so thats 30.7lbs total so far. I'll be getting a friend to take more pics when I hit 240. Goal weight 180lbs. I'm 6 foot.

Don't ever be fat.

But seriously man keep up the good work, my guess would be to work on mile speed before increasing distance, maybe bump up to a 1.5 mile run below 11 minutes before increasing distance.

Keep up the good work buddy. I'm in a similar situation as you.

>25
>270 lbs
>unhealthy relationship with food
>sedentary lifestyle
>disgusted with myself but too lazy and "depressed" to do anything about it

Just started my new lifestyle at the beginning of April. Turns out just getting started was the hardest part.

Staying under 1500 calories every day except my 1 cheat day per week when I eat up to 2200 calories. I've got about 10 different meals and as long as I switch those up the diet isn't even that bad.

I lost almost 10 lbs the first month and I'm feeling great.

We're gonna make it.

Man that's awesome! And your right, the first step is always the hardest. I have had to recommit more times than I can count. Day 2 isn't that hard, it's weird. Progress is slow because I fuck up every now and then. I'll probably always have to count calories and thats no big deal to me because I know I have a fucked up relationship with food.

I lurk and consume /fit/ and v/fatpeoplehate whenever I wanna go eat chinese food or whatever.

Hell yeah we are gonna make it!
I hope you have a great weekend.

>>37067800

I'm tempted to go back to mma stuff to nuke the fatty out of my brain, I just don't wanna get knocked unconscious again, its no fun.

Hey /fit/. Former obese guy here. I figured I'd greentext it. I know I still look like shit but I can at least say I'm not overweight anymore

Currently
>5'9"
>168 lb
>maybe 25 % body fat? That's a guess I've never actually checked.

I've been overweight for most of my life. I'm 18 now, and I've been the fat kid since probably sixth grade. Even before that I was chubby but by the time I was 12 I was definitely fat. I never realized how stupid I was about everything. Believed all the stupid shit with muh metabolism and muh genetics. By the start of 2016 I was 215 pounds, and had a bmi of 31. That was when I first actually discovered /fit/
>started dieting at 1600 calories a day

Keep lifting, you're young enough where you can easily turn this around within a year or two. Get a real routine like 5/3/1 BBB so you are at least making trackable progress.

I recommend cutting through the summer, then finally doing a calculated bulk through the fall/winter. Cut again in the spring to reap summer gains. Rinse, repeat.

>>
>>37068273
Sorry just finished my workout. I'm planning on cutting for at least the next 4 months. Right now I'm on a simple routine since I only have an hour to lift each night and nothing outside of a barbell and two dumbells. I want to cut to about 15 percent body fat, or until I hit 145 lbs. After that I'll do a 3k cal bulk. I'm going to uni in the fall so I'll be able to do a longer and more intensive routine there but with my current schedule I can't do any of the extensive routines.
>>
I went to work up north for a month and a bit. Went from 280lbs to 260lbs. Am I going to die?

Is doing cardio on a cut enough to keep your fatty muscle gains?

It used to be that people would train for marathons by running lots of miles. Weirdly, after many decades of sports training and medicine, coachs are now advising to train with far less miles but at a much faster pace. Apparently the faster pace builds endurance and strength better than volume for running.

What kind of scale do you use to weight yourself? It seems all electronic scales are entirely inaccurate. Every popular scale online seems to have reviews stating so. Even Scooby made a guide for this problem:

It's ridiculous that mechanical scales are more accurate then electronic in this day and age.

I think I'm addicted to food. I can eat sanely for a week, then go full retard for a huge 3k meal on one sitting, and in the end feel really bad about myself. I already lost 30 kilos from 2012 to 2013, gained 10 back in three years, constantly trying to lose weight. I only need to lose 20 kilos, I already did it once, I'm now build fat, I will at least be ottermode if I lose these 20 fucking kilos. I fear that in three years it will be 30. I can't find the mindset of 3 years ago when I was losing 1k a week.

When I lived with my Ex, she would eat nothing but cake, cookies, and pizza (and then vomit it up afterwards). She would constantly try to get me to eat it with her so she wouldn't feel bad about eating all of it. I would get constantly harassed when I was cooking my chicken and eggs and potatoes.
But, I never touched it, more than 1 bite at a time.

You can make it work. Wake up early, bake the chicken super early/late. Cook the Potatoes in the microwave instead, eat in another room pretending you have work to do. Buy Tupperwares, cook in bulk, eat from it, just smile and nod and joke around, but you don't have to eat it.

You can do it, bro. Cutting sucks, but it's so worth it. You can have abs by July if you start today :).

Starting 315lb
Current 292lb

I have been dieting for about 3 weeks now. Trying to have three good meals and snack on fruit. We cut out all processed foods and just make our own meals. Pic related. It was my lunch. 1/2 pound of chicken and a cucumber. Tasty as fuck, about 325 calories and 20g of protein. I have actually been having trouble eating 1,200 calories a day these meals get me full (except for breakfast because I have been on the run lately and just been having an orange and some watermelon)

Do you think 1,200 calories a day is okay if I feel good?

I like seeing the definition start andy face slimming out, but

>tfw losing strength during cut

It's got my head fucked up I wanna be strong and aesthetic :(

will I ever make it brehs?

How small are you if you're only losing 1/2 lb per week on a 1500 cal per day cut?

Congrats man, I know that feel all too well.
I'm currently 25 and a NYEer, 2016 is the year I'm making it after being fat all my life.
182cm for 85.8 kg atm.
>>
>>37076702
Around every 10 lbs it feels like I notice some body part that's now a lot leaner

I've been 'mirin my new thin arms for the past 10 days or so

Fuck if I know whats going on. I just figure its my punishment for being fat for too long.

How much do you weigh? How hard do you exercise?
>>
>>37076968
Eww, this that French I see?

Other than that, gratz on the progress. I was 105kg once Freshman year of college. Bounced 'round between 100kg-80kg without really keeping track/trying. Till this year. Finally got my ass in gear, down to 70.3kg.

I've lost 5lbs less than you and I started 5 weeks ago. Sorry for being a dick, but what the fuck are you doing?
>>
>>37077028
208 (started at 225)
I do 2 days 5k on a treadmill, 3 days of a basic dumbbell lifting routine (I've almost reached lmao1plate equivalent bench), and 1 day either a 2 hour cycling trip or 4 hours hiking.
>>
It's been around two and a half weeks and im down from 16% to 11%, going for 7%.

Using dnp and a big ass deficit, eating only 1k calories a day. Not losing much muscle since dnp is anti catabolic
>>
>>37066960
Good but i store too much fat, every little shit has atleast fucking 400 calories per 100 grams.
>>
>>37077052
You are failing yourself, raisins are gross. Put in real fruits like peaches or banana.
>>
>>37077094
damn idk man

Maybe you're slow because you're building up muscle as well as burning fat
>>
>tfw not swole enough to cut
>>
>>37073956
It doesn't matter much in the long run in my experience. Your bodyweight does fluctuate naturally anyway so don't feel down if progress seems to slow down from a week to another, keep going and more often than not you'll notice a big fat loss (like 3-4lbs) so don't concern yourself with that.
I use a pretty average electronic scale and it's good enough.
>>
>>37066960
Gave up weed because I couldn't stop binge eating at night. Since I'm no longer eating a bowl of ice cream with pop tarts and nutter bars after a bowl of ramen after my dinner, I've gone from 196 lbs to 180 lbs in about 3 weeks. I switched to pretty much only steamed vegetables, various dairy products, and the occasional oatmeal if I still feel starving. Aside from the initial shits from such a drastic diet change, I actually feel incredible. Like I got an oil change and a tune up. Plus I don't feel okay with just sitting around on my days off anymore. It's nice having my six pack again, though I'm now at the point where a night of binge eating makes me visibly fatter the next day.
>>
>>37077123
>tfw not cut enough to swole
>>
>>37073956
It probably doesn't matter but I'd recommend using the same scale. Your weight will go up and down from day to day, even during the day, but if you track weekly trends you should get a good idea of progress.
>>
>>37073956
If you weigh yourself with the same scale, you'll get an idea of where you're going. If it's a few oz off, you'll still know whether you're headed up or down.
>>
>>37066960
@163 from 175 should be around 12% @155 then will resume bulk im not really a guy who gets hungry so theres that
>>
>>37077094
That's a really good routine, like the other anon said it's probably muscles weighing heavy, and anyway at some point, for some frames, dropping pounds gets tedious but your fat burning is still going on as hard, so don't lose your motivation and keep going man.
>>
>>37077121
Thanks anyway brah. I asked fit a bunch of times about it already, got basically that response.

I got some whey recently to see if moving away from balanced macros makes any difference, but either way I'm not gonna worry about it since I've previously fallen off the horse by messing around too much.
>>
>>37077142
Gave up the ganja for this reason as well, after being a daily smoker for years.
My appetite is nearly nonexistent now it's like hax for cutting
>>
>>37077146
>tfw when cut enough for swole and number one tim
>>
>>37066960
192-155 currently, 5'10 manlet prince.

At about 165 I saw leaner face, leaner arms. Obviously smaller gut, but it's still there. I don't have much muscle is the problem (doing stronglifts now).

At 155, I can kinda BARELY see where my "core" is. Not abs, but like the baby precursor to them I think. I can also feel the muscle underneath developing.

As it is, I've stalled for 2 weeks because I keep binge-eating after a few strict days. Now I'm just eating little things like Nilla wafers, 100 cal popcorn packs, and diet soda when I'm craving bad food.

The worst part is, my Mom keeps putting me down. It used to be that she's chastise me that I wasn't eating anything, starving myself, "wasting away", "getting too skinny", etc. Now she says I'm "small", and "weak", especially compared to earlier. Really a downer, desu.
>>
>>37074327
>>37067349
>gonna make it soon

Has he not already "made it"? Maybe it's because I've been fat all my life, and his body/abs are still so far away from me, but that's the end-game right there, IMO.
>>
>>37077352
fuck that bitch in her fat fucking ass

cutting to under 1500 cals for a week now

ate a large meal / drank a lot with friends yesterday which took me to over ~2100 but back on it today
>>
>>37077387
He's saying that he's cutting by posting here, otherwise he's pretty much done indeed.
>>
>>37077391
Well, she's not fat. She's actually quite fit for her age. She messed up her calf, and it's never really healed, but at 62 years old she's more active than lots of people even though she can't run distance anymore.

If I get her based face-aging genetics, that'll be awesome. I just don't want to catch her "it's just your genetics" memery. She'd tell me that I was just like my Dad genetically, and that it wouldn't matter what I did because of our genetics. Nevermind that my older brother was fit and muscular, she said it was because he had genes that were "expressed differently". That shit fucked me for a long time, till I found /fit/ a year ago.
>>
>>37073956
I picked up a balance beam scale on craigslist.
>>
>>37077428
Well, he could have "made it" and still be cutting. I just wanted to clarify that he's "made it" in my view.

I imagine it'd probably be a good idea to keep cutting just a bit more even after hitting whatever goal people have on here, because then when you increase your intake you won't feel like you've failed when you put back on a few pounds.
>>
>>37075139
Yeah the loose skin will spring back a bit but not nearly enough so it's compression clothing or surgery if you want to look 'normal', doin' good though bro
>>
>tfw a skinnyfat cutting

Not much to look foward to even if I reach my goals. Just even more skinny. At least ill have skelly definition, which is a lot more acceptable to normies than this hellish trap mode.

Then ill begin the lean bulk.

I might an hero before that though. Thinking of going up a mountain at sunset and enjoy peace before doing the deed.
>>
>>37077549
Start lifting right now bro, helps with burning fat and builds a better body.
>>
>>37077549
Skinnyfat cutting here: lift weights too. I'm on babyweights and still look 100x better now than I did at a lower weight a while back. Toning isn't a meme if you're a lifting n00b.
>>
>>37077575

Cutting on 2000kcal with 200g protein. Dropped from 110kg and am 97, dropping to 96kg. Making gains, since I'm over 20%. Guess that's a recomp.
>>
How do I cut when I have a sweet tooth? Do I just cold turkey or try to iifym when it comes to sugary stuff. I was thinking of just eating fruit whenever I get a craving rather than sweets. Lesser of two evils I guess
>>
>>37077637
A-are you me?
>>
>>37077833
Yup switch to fruit, then gradually eat a bit less. Avoiding fruit entirely is a meme.

I kind of prefer oatmeal with cold blueberries over an ice cream now.
>>
>>37077637
I know that feel, I've been clinically depressed for years, but lifting would really make adiff. You can just buy a pair of dumbbells and just lift the bar at home, then gradually adding minimum weights, that's what I've been doing my first weeks.
Do the minimum but keep doing it consistently if you can.

Hang in there dude, it gets better sooner or later, improving yourself does help a bit too in my personal experience.
>>
>>37067045
At 206 you should be able to lose 30 in 3 months relatively easily. if youre slacking at the gym anyway cutting your calories down to 1300 a day wouldnt be fucking up gains so I'd say do it. Theoretically that would give you an extra 12 lbs weightloss, on top of what you were already losing, in 3 months. You lost 24 lbs from Jan to Apr so if we go by that and assume you do the same in this 3 month stretch then thats 36 Lbs which would bring you to 170
>>
oh gawd I was doing so well with my cut but my parents visited for Mother's Day and we went out to fancy restaurants and they paid... I binged. Tomorrow's another day... right?

there is no greater feel than that after work binge without regret
>>
>>37067045
>206-180 = 26lbs
>26 x 3500 = 91000 calorie deficit
>91000 / 3 months = 1000 calorie deficit a day

There's how it works on paper. That's going to be a steep deficit, but you just dropped 24lbs in 5 months, so its just a little harder than what you're already doing. Drop to 1500cal or double your exercise.
>>
doing well. down 5 pounds last month, up in strength. hit a 3/4bw press and a 1.5 bw squat, on a cut. minor miracle
>>
5'10, 275 here. Down from 315 in September.

I recently got the MyFitnessApp, and it says my TDEE - 500 is 2300 calories. Is it fine if I eat around 2000 calories instead?

Good to know.

Another question: is it normal to go through periods of not losing any weight? I didn't lose any weight through all of March, then lost 10 pounds during April, and now I'm not losing anything again.
>>
>>37080939
Yeah it's normal but a whole month seems pretty long, I know some people say you should try to have a cheat meal once a week to boost your metabolism and keep losing weight and that works for me but I can't vouch for it scientifically

Guys, I just had a massive binge. What should I do tomorrow? I am thinking about not eating anything, but I'm scared of losing control again, so maybe I can just eat what I had planned for the day without taking radical measures?
>>

Back to bulkin, you have no discipline. Not everyone is meant to be shredded
>>
manage to get from ~165 19 % bf from January, now it's may and I'm at ~135 15.2 % (started keto 2 weeks ago) should I just keep dropping to minimum weight of 130 and keep reducing my bf downwards to 13% or 12 % if possible or start bulking soon?

>>37076350
If you get lots of exercise (and you should lift and do some form of cardio, preferably a sport, it helps a lot and makes you full of energy) then you should eat about 1600kcal minimum, and you'll still lose more weight than without exercise at 1200kcal, and also retain/gain muscle.
>>
I'm 5'10" 224 at 24% bf. What's a sustainable bf and weight to aim for?
>>
>>37067721
I don't know why but even when I'm a lot heavier than you are, I never looked that big. Maybe because I'm asian I don't know.

But props to you as well, same thing here. I'm 250lbs from 275lbs. Let's both keep it up and be good bros here in /fit/
>>
>>37077121
Is that actually possible? I mean if you get a 1000kcal deficit a day you should lose 2 pounds a week, no matter what. It's science. However, I've been losing way less and I can actually see myself changing and losing fat in the mirror. Is it the noob gains or whatever? How can they defy science?
(Yes, I am actually counting my calories and macros correctly, and not overestimating exercise.)
>>
>>37066960
Fantastically. Started in January at 6'2" 211 pounds. Now, 20 weeks later, i'm at 194 pounds. Maintained most of my strength (bench actually went up) so I haven't lost much muscle either. It's good shit.
