well a Calorie is a unit of heat, the amount of energy required to heat 1ml of water 1 degree C.

So, since ice cream is cold, your body has to expend energy to heat it up.

tl;dr: ice cream causes your body to burn through a ton of calories due to the temperature differential.

this is kind of neat

Holy hell.
I never got the food porn thing, but this picture is something else. I want to shove my face into that ice cream.
>>
>>37023516
This. Whenever I cut I freeze all the food I eat and blend it into a shake that way I'm using energy, like some sort of human microwave, when I have to eat.
>>
>>37023516
>a ton

seriously how many calories do you think are burned?

>>

>>
>>37023516
Well then surely low calorie ice cream is the ultimate cutting food.

But it isn't.

I like five guys burgers, but I find their fries to be overrated. They always seem to get soggy after about 10 minutes.

Eat Baileys if you are on a gear.
If not, don't be stupid.

Why do I get the feeling that OP thought Ice Cream Fitness literally meant having an ice cream diet

It does not burn a ton of calories and ice cream has too many calories for it to be useful at all.

However, drinking ice water causes you to burn about eight calories per 8oz glass. It doesn't sound like much, but if you add that up for a year, you'd be burning pounds off.
The only kind of benefit you could get from ice cream is if you make your own with just a frozen banana and protein powder and blend it in a food processor, so you're at least getting some potassium and protein out of it.

Just as a heads up, this definition is misleading.

One GRAM calorie is the amount of energy required to heat 1ml of water 1 degree C. Gram calories are what is normally used in chemistry.

Nutritional calories are almost always given as KILOGRAM calories. AKA 1000 gram calories.

The amount of energy required to raise 100gr of frozen (0 degree C) food to body temperature is only about 4 kcal. Or less than your body burns up in metabolic processes while you read through this thread.
>>
>>37024542
>GRAM calorie
?? No, it's just calories. But you're right that on food labels the unit usually is kcal which are 1000 cal.

You could do the calculations of how cold ice cream needs to be to have a net effect of 0 yourself for fun.
Spoiler: it'd need to be colder than absolute 0, so it's not possible.

Is this american education at work?
Kilo calories are not short for Kilogram calories, they just use the same S.I. prefixes.
>>
>>37025837
he's right though you fucking retard
>The small calorie or gram calorie (symbol: cal) is the approximate amount of energy needed to raise the temperature of one gram of water by one degree Celsius at a pressure of one atmosphere.[1]
>The large calorie or kilogram calorie (symbol: Cal), also known as the food calorie and similar names,[2] is defined in terms of the kilogram rather than the gram. It is equal to 1000 small calories, 1 kilocalorie (symbol: kcal).[1]

The american education system is obviously a lot better than whatever shithole you come from. 1 kcal = 1000 cal. So if 1 cal raises the temperature of 1 gram of water by 1°C, then 1 kcal would raise the temp of 1000 g, or 1 kg, of water by 1°C.

He is technically correct that cold food helps burn calories. He's just severely overestimating the number of calories that cold food will burn.
