Is it even worth it to open a savings account? Pic is of one of the highest interest bank who is also FDIC insured. I checked my maximum FDIC insured amount to be $500,000 according to their website. Are all saving accounts fundamentally Ponzi schemes waiting for the market crash to hit? School me on financial literacy, /biz/
Wrong pic sorry
Savings account is never meant to be an account if you are trying to live on interest. It's supposed to be an account you can easily draw out of incase you need extra money thst you don't have in your checking account .

CDs are a meme now. If you want a non-stock market option than go with bonds but be prepared not to touch your money for 20 years. If you want more freedom than find a decent mutual fund to invest in.
>disclaimer: I'm a retarded kid who knows absolutely nothing about money and makes like 20k a year
I've been using prosper.com to try and get into investing. As a poor fag it was attractive because there's no fees whatsoever and you can make investments as small as $25.
It's a peer-2-peer loan site btw

tl;dr If you're working for an employer that does some amount of matching, then diversify it across their mutual fund choices because chances are you're not a financial professional nor do you have the unlimited free time to execute trades while the markets are open

pretty sure ally is 1.0x% right now
What is wrong with American banks? I get 4.5% interest in my basic savings account and 5.7% in my 'term saver'. No risk. Biggest banks in NZ.
