Taking engineering now. Since I go to a shitty university (although it's D1) my professors are dog shit. I took an online class and I kid you not, the professor didn't post one fucking lecture the whole semester. Literally self-taught myself this entire course with the textbook.

Yeah, I didn't go to MIT or Caltech tier, but I don't believe I went to super-shitty university for math. I'm not super autistically gifted at it, just more than the average person. And after meeting many people who are much more successful, and busier than me who also found time to be quite successful at lifting, I find it hard to believe the average doesn't have time in the day.

biological engineer major in my senior year checking in
this year has been ok. stay on top of things and by now all the important concepts have "clicked" so I don't spend a lot of time in the struggle phase of learning anymore.
however I was probably average 2 all nighters a week my junior year. on campus at 8am to 5pm 5 days a week. two 3 hour labs with 10+ page technical reports for each session. difficult assignments necessitating at the very least 4+ hours to digest and complete. on and on and on.
ended up getting hit with depression purely at the chemical / hormonal level just because I was perpetually sleep deprived, on top of eating only once a day (usually).
bench dropped from 355 to 275 on a good day, squat dropped from 410 to literally grinding 315 for a single.
anyway, by the end of summer my bench was up to 385 and my squat hit 445. there's a light at the end of the tunnel brahs. no matter how terrible it might seem. keep pushing.

Where im from you have to do 1 year of the 4 basic science subjects to continue, to pretty much sift out people who don't really belong there.
It's pretty much calc 2, statistics, bio, biochem, organic chem, "normal" chem, and then 2 physic courses. This is done at a 200% speed (compared to if you took the courses one by one). We take the courses with the people who are doing the separate science bachelors.
You need 80% to pass (you can only pass and fail the courses and failing one out of 4 exams is enough to not pass) and roughly 50% fail at least one and can't continue with medschool. So it's pretty cutthroat.

Hopefully you're going to a big name firm anon (e.g. Jewgle, microsuck, twatter, Yahomo, etc) because otherwise you'll get stuck in your small no name go nowhere firm. And if you work for a small firm and get a lot done, when you go for an interview with a big firm, the interviewing engineers there (who get nothing done because internal politics, shirking, etc) are put off by you and instantly start grilling you with academic trivia to find a reason to not hire you. And if you pass all their academic trivia, they'll say you don't fit their culture and pass on you.

It really depends on the class for me. In some classes, the lecture is extremely helpful, either because the professor is really good, or the book is terrible. In those cases, I attend religiously because it's very helpful and I do much better in learning and retaining the information.
In other classes, the lecture is either terrible or just unhelpful, or maybe it's ok but the book is far better. In the former case I won't attend because spending fifty minutes learning nothing is a complete waste of time, ESPECIALLY if the professor thinks fucking proofs are sufficient teaching. In the latter case I'll skip because I can learn much more in the time of a lecture from reading the book than I would being in lecture.
Your time is precious, and if you're working then it's highly unlikely you'll have time to do everything you need to. You need to prioritize, and sometimes that means skipping lectures to better utilize your time. Of course this doesn't apply to faggot professors that make attendance a huge part of your grade and treat you like a fucking five year old that can't manage their time.

Yeah, it just depends what you do with it. CS is a blanket term. You can generally do programming, code monkeying and IT with a standard CS degree.
IT you can sometimes get into with just a two year degree or just a GED and some experience.
Mobile apps takes a CS degree plus some additional classes to be qualified.
