Is 1pl8 overhead press the natty limit?
>>
Obviously not, unless you're suggesting that kid is on gear
>>
>>36909639
Nah I OHP 1pl8 at 5'10 175lbs, wasn't even close to natty limit
>>
The natty limit does not exist.

I OHPed 150 (lbs) last week at 5'8 160. Natty too
>>
>>36909806
Pretty impressive m8, 5x5 right?
>>
>>36909639
christ no, i can strict press 65kg at 6'0 85kg and i've never even done a proper bulk (lifting a year but i fucked around a lot) so that's mostly CNS gains
>>
No lol, I'm almost 1plate 3x5 after a few months of lifting
>>
i'm natty and i can 1rm 155 ohp, but it hasn't gotten any better in months
>>
Nah m8 I just hit a 1pl8 press for two reps and I'm DYEL as fuck
>>
>>36909639
No, 155 3x5 atm
>>
>>36909933
>almost

Have fun being stuck at 125lb ohp for 3 months faggot
>>
What do you guys think the natty limit is then? Can you do more than 1.25x bodyweight OHP natty?
>>
>>36909973
yeah well the jokes on you because i'm on 126lbs
>>
>>36909657
doesn't count since it's not an olympic barbell + he might have used a push press technique
>>
>>36910191
How did you hit that 1 ibs so fast?
>>
>>36909973
How do you plateau that long?

I am at 145x5 and I can't say I plateau'd much at all around 125

Just did 125x5 then 135x3 the next session, then 130x5.

T.Literally a NYR who has only had a barbell since January (h-home ""gym"" master race)

Not Op but I'm stalling on OHP. No matter what I do I can't move up.

I've increased food intake, dropped weight, increased reps, but nothing is working pls halp
>>
>>36910214
>drop weight add reps
How would increasing strength endurance help?

Are you retarded?

Do your 3rm, and superset it with push press

Or just do push press.
Or just work with your 3rm.

Replace volume with intensity.
>>
>>36910249
Also you can do light push press, and keep the eccentric part of the lift strict, basically like doing negatives of a higher weight
>>
If you're plateauing, do 8x2 to get through it. I've done it on two occasions. Now I'm stuck at 100kg while cutting.
>>
>>36910268
..eight sets?

How long do you rest between sets?

Do I just need to spend all day at the gym?
>>
>>36910293
Are you joking? I do at least 10 sets on flat bench before I do incline and close grip..
>>
165x5 last week, personal pr

Hoping for 185 by the end of the year, but progress is slow af on bench
>>
>>36910204
I'm from the UK. We have our plates in kg, so 57.5kg = 126.5lbs; 125 lbs = 56.7
>>
>>36910311
>you joking me brah?

No, because literally every source that isn't directed at roid users recommends 2-4 sets per exercise, and 3-8 min rest between sets.

On a 2rm I am resting close to 10 mins usually, so that is over an hour of resting to do 8x2
>>
>>36910204
He's probably roiding
>>
>>36910345
Your bench is weak, and we aren't talking about benching, fgt
>>
>>36910378
Meant ohp not sure why I wrote bench

>context
>>
>>36910357
Again pls tell me you're not this retarded.
Rest is 1min for hypertrophy for nattys and 3min for 5s and trips. Maybe 5mins tops for doubles but that's pushing it.
Also yeah 2-4 working sets, not counting warm-ups. I do 4 workings sets, 3 warms and some paused or hypertrophy after for my main lifts. It's literally the 5/3/1 program.

Nice broscience memes.
That shit has been thoroughly debunked
What it Does do is make you unable to lift heavy weig, because you aren't recovered, so you do less total volume (thus getting less hypertrophy)

I can dig up citations if you want

Why do 2 reps if it is not your 2rm? Makes no sense, pham
>>
>>36910311
Nice bait. If you're doing anything under twenty sets per exercise, you're doing it wrong.
>>
>>36910214
I will help you

Learn proper grip (read the starting strength ohp section, you can find pdfs), this allowed me to go up from 180 ohp to 225 over a week.

Do dumbell shoulder press the same day

Do 3 overhead /chest workouts a week

Get psyched as fuck for massive presses, do sets with only like 3 reps and do burnouts

And don't be afraid to not be super strict all the time, use the legs a bit when your not trying to asess how much you can strictly press, just always be pushing yourself at 100 percent
>>
>>36910464
>why do 2 reps if it's not your 2rm
>what are doubles
Fuck, actually learn something about lifting before trying to correct people. You do rm's when do a fucking rm set, so when doing multiple sets at that weight. You should be working at 90-95% except when maxing.
>bioscience
No, long rest times between sets is broscience. They should only be long when you're rm'ing, fuckboy, with the greatest length during warm-ups before you start to get heavy so you don't waste energy.
>what is time under tension
Shorter rest times for hypertrophy sets is basic fucking science.
>>
lol @ all the broscienc and e-statters in this thread

IT SHOULD BE A REQUIREMENT TO POST A PHYSIQUE PICTURE WHEN CLAIMING LIFTING STATS
>>
>>36910499

Do none of you wish to make it?

8 hours arm work out per exercise

CMON!!

The sample sizes are appropriate, jackass. Don't pretend to be better qualified at science than real scientists.

Large sample sizes are only required to even disparities in statistical significance.

If you can get sig figs from a low sample size, it is 100% kosher.

Also 100% of /fit/ users are recreational lifters

Because shitposters on 4chan have higher standards than legitimate scientific publications..

The sample sizes are no where near appropriate. You can't validate anything with such a small sample. And these are run of the mill idiots they pulled, not people that actually train for strength and size like bodybuilders and oly lifters

I love art's majors pretending to know science. They'll complain and ask about citations for the most basic scientific knowledge, then try whinge about it because of the date of the article and the sample size, and have no fucking clue what any of it means.
It's especially bad in vegan threads.
>>
>>36909639
i ohp 145 for a 5x5, max is around 175 , pretty much my body weight at 5 '7

>>36910806

They were ss faggots just like us.

And when you complain about sample size, you only illustrate your inability to understand statistical significance.

Meanwhile you have zero evidence to support your bullshit broscience memes
>>
my ultimate goal is 2plate

This is basic fucking knowledge when it comes to scientific studies.
>>36910744
Also unless you're monitoring their intake proportional to their bw and lean mass so it's even of across the board, it means nothing. Too many uncontrolled variables makes it have terrible validity.

I've done that and I've been lifting like 5 months
>>
>>36909639
65kg x 3 last friday and it felt smooth and good form wise. Going for x5 tomorrow and then 70kgx3 on Thursday.

Target is 2pl8 which I think is reasonable. I don't expect to get there fast, but i'm sure its doable.
>>
>>36910980
Did you even read the article? They kept a food diary. An average of 12 of the subjects diaries saw they ate 2700kcal a day, approximately 150g of that in protein.

Do you even fucking read? I know for a fact you don't lift, thinking smaller rest times = hypertrophy.
>>
>>36911231
Are you joking, bro?

You need at least 50 sets per exercise, resting only 15 seconds, meaning you lift 2lb per rep.

Making ALL KINDS OF GAINS!!
