The most important thing for people to realise is that you won't die from getting punched in the face, and that you should always stand up for yourself and others. Some of their fighters have had televised fights, been to other states, etc.

There is also an mma gym, who has "professional" fighters as well who have had big fights but they don't train in one style and I don't see any credentials for the trainers like typical gyms have for martial arts. Usually the martial arts gyms I've been interested in are very open about what certifications the trainers have and who they have trained under but this one just says HURRR MMA ALL STYLES

Not really. Most of your early boxing classes will be drills and conditioning ,because you need to get those punches right on reacting opponents.
Also conditionning will give you better results in group because competition will push you farther.
You don't become a boxer by meeting 45 minutes 4 times a month for a guy telling you how to punch ,and then punching a bag and doing cardio. That's fucking retarded . There is no sparring ,no regular drills on moving opponents to see if what you practiced was good.

If you take grappling, then a lot more of your experience will come from rolling with other people. In a sense, you get more time in actual fighting than you do if you boxed. You may not learn a lot of striking, but you do learn how to subdue real people.
In anon's example, a televised fight doesn't have eye gouging or kicking or anything. You still miss out on a lot of what makes a street fight so chaotic when you box.

Because a lot of people start shit who haven't fought or gotten a straight punch to the face before so by you hitting them square in the face they either back off or start fighting you with you already having a punch to their in and then it comes down to is it 9 out of 10 who can't fight or the one who can.
If it's the one who can and you can't you're gonna get your ass beat either way regardless of who throws the first punch
