WTF how is it possible for a guy THIS SMALL to be so fucking strong

This guy is 5'9" manlet barely 180lbs and how the fuck does he lift these weights, this must be humanly impossible

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mMT9uRaMTgY
>>
>>36871551
Great genetics, dedication and PEDs.
>>

What? Literally every top performer in most sports are roiding. The strongest powerlifters, weightlifters, strongmen and all are all roiding. They're notoriously strong, not weak.
>>
>>36871724
Because he's not training to be a huge, juicy bodybuilder, he's training to be a powerlifter.

He's super lean, for one. He'd be 220+ if he was at an average big guy's bodyfat, IMO.

Also, that massive dude at your gym is probably lacking in technique compared to this guy's finely honed competition bench press technique.

>>
>>36872555

No really though, everybody has a genetic potential in terms of how strong they can get. Beyond that leverages play a big role in powerlifting. Short femurs, long torso, average arms is the best for a big total because you have best proportions for the squat, and decent proportions for the bench and deadlift. John Haack also deadlifts over 700lbs.
>>
>>36872065

How on earth is he not using a pad for that weight. That's so much weight it's got to be tearing at his back muscles.
>>
How does he not blow his spine to bits deadlifting like he does?

Because the length of your leg bones and spinal vertebrae do not determine or directly correlate to your level of strength.

>>
>>36873651
Why?
>>
>>36873630
The length of your bones directly relate to leverage, though.

So... no. I'm just laughing at his baby movements.

Its weird that manlets think they are always stronger or look better than actual men. I'll give it to you though, you DO look better, faster in photos. But even a ripped manlet looks like a child next to a tallbro IRL. Those 15" arms aren't as impressive IRL than they are on a giant monitor.

>>
>>36874331
Average is small. Average doesn't fucking mean most are 5'9, but there's enough manlets under 5'9 to balance out the 6ft+
>>
>>36871551

roiders have confused people into thinking "big muscles" = strong, when in fact 99% of guys with "big muscles" are weak as shit

that guys muscles are dense, efficient as fuck and his Central Nervous System is light-years ahead of fucken curl-bros who roid
>>
>>36871551
what is the point of a spotter on a squat?

seems more dangerous for the spotter
>>
>>36874603
literally the only time 5´9 is a manlet, is when you apply for a modeling job
>>
>>36874658
A big muscle has potential to be a stronger muscle, and it's not like muscle fibers are ever just "for show"

roiders are usually stronger than most people, because roiding gives you more strength quicker. Most bodybuilders are strong. Look at arnolds PRs, or at Kai Greene, incline benching 5 plates.
>>
>>36874699
Or live anywhere outside of south east asia.
>>
>>36871551
What song is that in the video?
Anyways, good on that guy. Most people can't come anywhere near that in their lifetime, roids or not.
>>
>>36874703
Different guy here, you're both right, but let's not forget that Haack is far from small and is in fact bigger than probably anyone else his height who's posting on this board.
>>
idk with those shitty reps I feel like anyone could pull that off.
>>
>>36871551
Jesus FUCK dat squat grind
>>
>>36874801
Also does anyone know why he chooses to squat highbar?
>>
>>36873758

I'm serious dude. That's like 500lbs weighing down on his back muscles.
>>
>>36871604
I doubt hes taking any AAS. He looks totally natty to me. MAYBE halotestin or something specifically for strength, but he lacks that hard grainy look. Just looks legit athletic.

>>36871667
Quit this bullshit. No they arent. While i agree hes probably natty, youre retarded.
>>
>>36874826
You build up your rear delts and traps specifically to make a larger, stronger shelf for the bar.

Also, you're a fucking idiot. Even with a pad, it's still the same amount of force, just with a soft cover instead of hard knurling.

His back can support it the same as his legs do.
>>
>>36874815
High bar honestly doesn't have any serious strength disadvantage from low bar except for two points

1) the limiting factor in high bar tends to be thoriac spine extension, the same as your back tends to be the limiting factor in front squats (it sounds wrong, but think about it - when you fail a front squat, its virtually always because your back rounds rather than because your legs can't handle it). If somebody maintains enough upper back extension work, this shouldn't be an issue.

2) you "bounce" lower than in the low-var squat, so the additional force from the bounce can't help you through the sticking point like in the low bar squat. Again, with very good technique and adequate speedwork this also isn't so much of an issue.

Low bar is honestly easier to squat heavier with, unless you've trained specifically for highbar you're probably going to be weak where you need to be to squat heavy with it.
>>
>>36874908
No I know what you mean about front squat/back strength, but I still have to believe almost everyone in powerlifting would be going lowbar on a max attempt like that.
>>
>>36873773

>you look faster in photos

holy shit these are the people making manlet threads
>>
>>36874951
It really just depends on how they train. 99% are going to train lowbar because it's the easiest from the start, eliminates a weak point, and works better with suits.

Most of the people that squat high bar are converted over from weightlifting and already have extremely strong thoriac extension.
>>
>>36871551
thats not uncommon, at my gym there are plenty of guys smaller than me that are stronger than me, their body is like one big muscle

>>36871616
also this, the ratio of muscle weight to weight that muscle can then lift is stupid
>>
>>36872555
Jeff pls
>>

>Average is small.
No, it's average.
>>
>>36873598
Damn, they were real shit at judging depth in the pre-IPF days, weren't they.
>>
>>36874951
Actually, raw lifters tend to trend towards a sort of high bar squat these days. Low bar is more a carryover from equipped.
>>
>>36871551

What a beast
>>
>>36871724
PEDs and roids are not necessarily the same thing
>>
I can bench 3 plates for 10 reps and nobody on /fit/ believes me because apparently that's a really high amount even for /plg/ standards therefore it must be impossible that a random can do it.
>>

>>
>>36878689

Bodorio's also a damn strong geared heavyweight. Ain't that many people around at that level.
>>
>>36878548
I believe you, I see it every day.

A note about /plg/:
Hilariously enough, /plg/ is notoriously shitty at bench. I think to this day the best bench recorded is a 4pl8 bench at 105kg.
>>
so literally height has jack shit to do with your potential to lift heavy things
>>
>>36878702
Fil doesn't lift equipped.

And he competes at 105kg. Not exactly heavyweight. Hell, I'd even say he's a bit light for height.
>>
>>36878712

No. It has a lot to do with it. It just isn't the only thing (and is heavily tied in with bodyweight).

The elite guys at, say, 6'2 or more are moving a lot more weight than Haack does. And the elite guys down in the midget classes do less.
>>
>>36871551
Look at the top people in powerlifting in pretty much any class except for shw, or the extreme twinks. They're all 5'9 or close to it.
>>
>>36878712
No, the bigger you are the larger total potential you have.

Up to a point at least.

I'd say the sweet spot is between 6'3 and 6'7.
>>
>>36871667
>Roiders are notoriously weak
da fuck u mean by that???

in my experience "roiders" are notoriously strong.
>>
>>36878715

I wasn't talking about equipment.
>>
>>36878743
Sorta. For a big 6'5 guy, they're gonna have to weigh around 350 or so to put up a really big bench. Which pretty much means roiding for the vast majority of people.
>>
>>36878548
That's a lot of weight. I'm 40 now and can only do 3 plates a few times but when I was 30 I could do it for 8-10 w a max of 405.

2xBW means a lot less for midgets than it does larger lifters. There's a reason elite level deadlifts in the lightest weight classes are up near 5xBW and elite deadlifts in the heaviest classes are hovering around 3xBW.
>>
>>36878833

Yes and they have more muscle mass than what they did when they lifted less. Getting stronger=getting more muscles.
>>
>>36880836

I think what he means to say is the relationship between strength and size isnt absolutely linear, it starts off that way but when you reach 4+ years of lifting you can continue making strength gains with very little muscle mass increase through technique, cns adaptation and muscle fibre recruitment.
>>
>>36881162

Everything haack can do we can do. Stay optimistic guys.

I am also a natty 4pl8 bencher.

Also being lean and strong when youre approaching 10yrs lifting is really easy as opposed to when you start. Huge benefits to those who are consistent.
