I tend to look at people who get tattoos as trying to compensate for being boring.
I don't include tattoos that have a meaning or reasoning behind them in that, but pointless "body art" is a red flag for boring, douchey, or fake quirky to me. This goes double for women.
I almost got a gang related tattoo once, but glad I didn't, because it was a white nationalist gang and I don't move in those circles any more.

I never claimed to be unique, I just don't like when people think getting some fake-ass tribal tattoo, song lyric, or Tinkerbell on their cankle makes them a special snowflake.
I grew up around a lot of people with tattoos, but most of the time they would be able to point at a piece and say "I got this to celebrate X" or "this is in remembrance of..."
So "I saw this on the tattoo artist's wall, and thought it was cool!" just seems stupid.
