I want to try pre-workout and my cousin said to get C4. I was checking out a GNC that's close by and it was $65 CAD tax included for 60 servings.

Is that a good deal? Is there a cheaper and/or better one I should get instead?

Personally I take two scoops for every scoop

I preferred C4 over neurocore, which are the only two I've tried. 65 tax included is about as good a deal as you're gonna find in Canada (I usually shop at Popeyes cause there's one just up the street from me). If you're trying out pre C4 is a good place to start, watermelon is actually pretty good.

I just looked it up again and remember seeing Extreme(the black labelled one) and a chrome labelled one. I didn't notice at first but the chrome one has like 4 kinds. Regular, Mass, Ripped and 50x. Which one should I pick up?

Why is PPL considered superior to the basic split? If I am lifting 6x per week, and hit all muscle groups twice (chest/tris, back/bis, legs/shoulders) and take my rest day when needed, without skipping anything on a split, will I see the same results as a PPL? If not, why the difference?

Hi /fit/
I've been doing SS for 4 months now. Last Friday I did 260 for reps and ended really tired. This Monday I tried 265 for reps but only got 5/5/3, so today I tred 265 again but couldn't even do 5 reps in the first set, I feel tired from the inner thigh and I think this is what is holding me back.

Should I deload and work the weight back up again, or should I just rest until I feel fully recovered?
>>
What are good supplements to help someone with stomach and lung cancer ?
>>
>>36864578
Chemotherapy.
>>
>>36864367
The variations are pretty much memes. 50x has an extra 50% everything(except maybe caffeine, can't remember, it does have more per scoop); ripped has some coffee bean extract that won't help you lose body fat; mass has 60cals instead of 5 and has some fibre. Go with whatever, it doesn't really matter.
>>
So, I started doing SS about a week ago, and incorporate Couch to 5K into it as well as going on a cut. Is this too much to lose weight or am I on board for a good gain / fat loss journey?

There's more inherent balance in the movements. Better still is a full body routine that includes the 6 basic movements: split leg or gait stance (e.g. lunge), hip hinge (e.g. deadlift), squat, upper body push, upper body pull and some kind of twist or throw.

supplements are bad for cancer. cancer grows on good food and nutrients. in fact it diverts them and gets them preferentially. the best thing you can do is make sure you get enough to eat to maintain lean body mass to help survive chemo. anabolic steroids and pot are really really good for this if you can convince your MD to prescribe them for you.

SS isn't so great for a cut. Too much volume and too much frequency. One set of five for every exercise, and two workouts a week if cutting. If you're fat, it's better to just eat maintenance and do SS and then cut on 5/3/1 once you've gotten all you can from SS.

If your main goal is losing weight fast you probably want to stay under 1500-1700 cals a day alongside exercise, you will also notice a waist size reduction first before you notice belly. Try on some pants that were tight and see if they still are.

Also muscle is building underneath your fat, this can make you appear bigger, but don't worry this will help you lose more fat quicker.

What does /fit/ think of the Warrior Diet?

I'm cutting and considering it. I'd approach it by con tinting calorie counting and training fasted in the mornings, powered by the meal the previous night. Bad idea or what? What are some experiences with this diet? Or a modified version? It's looks like an extreme version of IF at a glance.
>>
>>36866897
>looks like an extreme version of IF
It IS intermittent fasting. And to my knowledge it came out before the Lean Gains protocol that I assume you're talking about.
The book is filled with a lot of pseudo-science but the fact of the matter is that it works well (for me anyway). You may say it's more extreme than LeanGains, but actually most of the research I've seen says that most of the physiological benefits of fasting didn't start happening until around the 18 hour mark. Although neither The Warrior Diet nor Lean Gains is actually 100% fasting as one recommends whey protein pulses throughout the day and the other recommends BCAA supplementation. Technically speaking, both of these break the fast. Regardless, not eating for a long period of time WILL make you burn fat in this period, and most people won't eat enough during the following 4 hour window to regain nearly as much fat as they've burned during the previous 20 hours.
>>
>>36866944
Ah I see. Thanks for the response. What about muscle loss? Assuming you lift and get your protein, will this style of eating put you risk of loss? It's good you're having success on it though anon. I'm hopeful for myself
>>

Roughly 4 quarter scoops.
>>
Do I need to isolate arms or are exercises like rows, dips, pull ups (compounds) sufficient for building decent looking arms?
>>
>>36863915
Roughly a half of two scoops
>>
>>36866982
Muscle loss is never an issue provided you're eating well and aren't that lean.
The leaner you get, the more you need to worry. As you dip below 10%, you need to be more anal about things and I'd definitely recommend counting macros at that point. But when you're fatter you can get away with most things without worrying too much about losing lean mass. That's been my experience anyway.

>>36867001
Truth is it's an individual thing. I have a friend whose arms grow the most when he sticks to his compounds. Some people find they need to isolate their biceps, some need to isolate their triceps, some need to isolate both.
If you're just starting out I wouldn't worry about it. Your arms will grow just fine from the basics. Adding isolation exercises aren't likely to make much of an impact.

The important thing is progressive overload and your diet. You can do all the biceps exercises in the World but if your numbers don't go up your biceps won't grow.

What's a good 3 times a week workout? I'm starting to look for one to change to from SS in a few months. I'm guessing I'll have to do a full body routine, how does pic related look?
>>
>>36867001

We have this discussion daily and nobody ever agrees. Compunds are more important and many great arms have been built by them only. Isolation helps but cannot replace compunds.

I don't curl atm simply because I'm not on a split and I don't have the energy, so I use a narrow grips in some compounds instead. I'm making arms gains this way but I'll surely isolate more in the future.

Yes, I've used it for two years now on and off, with no problem whatsoever. Just don't over do it, be patient and results will come. Take it with caffeine while fasted before low intensity cardio.
>>
>>36867334
>>36867375
Variations:
Bench - incline, dumbbells
Squat - front squat, lunges
Ohp - Dumbbells, lateral raises
Just to name a few.
Also most important is volume and eat more like anon said.
>>
>>36867334
Simple question, complex answer. One could say that reps, sets, intensity, density, frequency and all that are all just variables that you manipulate in order to facilitate continued progress.

With that in mind however, there are some things that work most of the time.

1) Figure out if you're doing something utterly retarded that could be holding you back.

2) If you're a tiny guy, make sure you're eating enough to actually build muscle.

3) Take babysteps. You can't keep just slapping on plates every session. That's impossible or you'd be World champion in just a years time. Instead find ways to make progress in small managable steps. To continue your bench press example, you could do the following:

Next session: 10x40kg
Next: 6x50kg
Next: 11x40kg
7x50kg
12x40kg (this will probably be sort of a PR for you but should feel manageble)
8x50kg (same as above)
10x42.5kg
6x52.5kg
11x42.5kg
7x52.5kg
And so on. The point is to try to make each session as "easy" as possible. But after a couple of months you'll look back and realize you've blown your old lifts out of the water. Takes patience though. But it's all about the little victories - just 1 more rep and it's progress.

What is some of the best tips for losing bodyfat? And don't give a copout answer like lose weight/caloric deficit.
I want to know if there are diets that are more efficient or specific foods, what activities (HIIT jumprope etc) are more effective for losing fat.

Also I tried using Scooby's bodyfat calculator and it is absolute fucking trash. Said I had 13% when I'm nowhere fucking near that. There is no way I'm under 20%. My pecs and thighs don't really have that much fat, but my stomach is fucking grotesquely fat.

I'm looking for a video where they interview some guy/lifter/bodybuilder with a serious mental handicap induced by substance abuse.

Got tendonitis in my left knee. Doc said to avoid any deep flexion of the knee for a couple weeks.

What are some substitute workouts for squating or deadlifting?
>>
how much time should you be taking between heavy weight, low rep sets? like 1 minute right?
>>
>>36868942
Physio student here. Provided you've been diagnosed correctly you have two options as far as rehab goes. And just "avoid any deep knee flexion for a couple of weeks" is NOT a solution - It's doctor speech for "I don't know what the fuck I'm doing".

OPTION 1: Eccentric training:
Train twice a day
Pick 2 quad focused exercises
Do 3x15 eccentric-only (use healthy leg to do the concentric)
As pain subsides, increase weight

OPTION 2: Heavy, slow training:
Train 3 times a week
Pick 3 quad focused exercises
3 sets per exercise. Start out doing 15 reps but work up the intensity so you're doing 6 reps by week 8. Weight must be so heavy you can't do more than prescribed number of reps.
Reps MUST be performed very slowly. One rep should take 6-8 FULL seconds. That's 3-4 seconds down and 3-4 seconds up. WHOLE seconds.

Rules for both option 1 & 2:
Train this way for 12 weeks
Pain is OK while doing the exercises but should dissappear when you're done
All other activities or training during this period that exacerbates your pain must be discontinued
Avoid NSAIDs
Consider continuing with this kind of training occassionally after succesfull rehab to prevent shit coming back

>>36869023
As much as you need in order not to compromise performance too much. As you grow stronger you'll find that you'll need more and more rest if you go all-out on a heavy set. But really, 2 minutes minimum if we're talking about 5-6 reps or heavier. If you can repeat your performance from the previous set after only 1 minute then you're not pushing yourself nearly hard enough.
>>
>>36868896

>>

Who knows. A lot of people have had positive results from switching it around a bit. Maybe you were able to have a 185 1RM for a while but you didn't rest enough on your old routine.
531 is a really good routine for improving your 1RM either way.

Leg press is a meme.
If you have decently strong legs at all you should be able to do at least six plates a side for fifteen, but to be honest, leg press really isn't any kind of standard of strength, regardless of what you leg press. It's like trying to measure overall strength by how much you do on the curl machine.

Wide hips hourglass shaped male here.
Obliques - to hit or not to hit them, that is the question.
Obviously, more mass in area A would be great to reduce the hourglass physique, but I have no idead how to do it without getting mass in area B, which obviously would make me look even worse.
>>
>>36870912
Do a ton of chins and back work. If you hit the lats hard you can get that X-taper. It's the best us wide hip bros can do
>>
>>36870912
Train obliques once every ten days or so, or twice every three weeks. Other than that, train back, and actually train legs properly. Once you grow some quads, a back and cut some fat you'll have the classic bodybuilding X-shape, which is really aesthetic. Much better than looking like a candy apple, in my opinion, which is what guys with narrow hips have until they really start training legs seriously.

>>36870912

Just start training them a little and see if you like what you see. It's not like they're going to be irreversably huge from one day to the other unless you're roiding

>>
>>36871279
Well what would you prefer - for your workouts to feel like they're doing something but really aren't, or workouts that don't feel like they're doing anything but really are? Not saying that you couldn't get good results on a PPL split just as well as by doing SL, but always remember that results come from progress - NOT from making yourself tired. If you want to feel tired, just do 100 maximum single deadlift attempts and run a marathon. I guarantee you'd feel pretty toast while having had a workout that wasn't productive in any way.

That being said however, of course your training must be fun or you'll just lose motivation and get nowhere.

>>
>>36871637
Keep in mind that the entire point of doing an isolation exercise is to try to give some extra work exclusively for the target muscle. Cheating basically means using other muscles and/or momentum to assist - doing so sort of defeats the whole purpose of doing the exercise in the first place.
That being said, when used right cheating can be effective occassionally. For example you can use momentum to get the weight up but lower it under control (because you're stronger on the eccentric).

>>36871736
If you want to do a million exercises for your pecs, pick a program that's designed with that in mind. You add all that to StrongLifts it's not longer SL, it's something else.

>Well, I'm about to graduate college this year, and I'm still a virgin at 22. I've even been in bed with girls but unable to get it up. All of my best opportunities will disappear when I graduate. Is it too late for me to make it?

No, the virgin meme is stupid.
Try fucking a dude or something, you may not like girls. Or if you're on SRI/SSRI drugs, try something else.

Sup /fit/ I got a question.
I ve been doing bench press for 5 months now, as my routine (Greyskull) prescribes. The problem with that exercise is, that I am most often alone at the gym and there are no safeties. Since I am pretty sure I reached a weight that could kill me if it dropped on my face or neck, I dont want to take the risk. I am thinking about switching to dumbbel bench press, I have adjustable dumbbels in the gym. My questions are:
-what are pros and cons of db bench press?
-how much weight I should be able to handle, If I bench 80 kg (including barbell)
-any tutorials/articles that I should see? I dont introduction into basic form, that much I can find on yt myself

How can I get my bf to workout?
He doesn't need to become a huge sick cunt, honesty simple bodyweight workouts bidaily like I do would do wonders for his skinnyboi body.
We've been together for a year and ever since we got together he's been saying he wants to get fit (told him about how I lost weight and how I feel better after getting fit and he says it was motivating for him) but constantly finds every excuse not to later on

I feel really guilty about typing this but when we're having the dirty I look at his body and get a little turned off and I feel like shit after for thinking this way cause I love him
He was 5'11 140 when we met but now he's 120ish so he's only becoming more skelly
Is there anything more I can do to convince him? I want him to feel like it's his choice and not that I'm forcing him

Post a normal photo, facing the camera normally in a normal pose.
No one will be able to tell it's your bathroom.

I'd say about 18%, or a smidge higher, I can't really tell like that.

Ive only been lifting for about two months but I dont ache after lifting even if I do it to failure...

Scars, tattoos or something?

Well, that depends on how you'd like to diet.
Do you calorie/macro count?
Do you do any form of regular cardio?
If you'd like to see results quick, eat a 1,500 cal, high protein diet, with ideally at least 40g of fats. Take an ECA stack 2-3 times a day, depending on the way you tolerate it, and do a bit of mild cardio.

If you want to lose it as fast as you should be able to do safely, look up Lyle McDonald's rapid fat loss program, and try that out.

If you're issue is just adhering to the diet, eat a bowl of veggies with salsa when you're getting hungry, or something else very low calorie.
Drink lots of water, try something like swedish snus if you don't mind using nicotine, drink diet sodas, snack on something like sunflower seeds, which take a while to eat.
Etc.
There are a lot of things you can do, but the thing that helps the most, is just having the strength to say no to food, and occasionally going to bed hungry.

Intermittent fasting may help you, but I only like that on rest days, training fasted is a great way to cause me to faint.

hey dude, been working out for about a month and a half

does anyone have tip on cutting them love handles, and work out exercises that might isolate them, thanks brehs
>>
I haven't worked out back properly in a long time. It's so bad that my lower back feels weak and my squats are heavier than my deadlift.

What are some good back exercises I should be doing?

Can't spot reduce.
Why do so many people think that working out something would make you lose fat there instead anywhere else?
>>
>>36873779
Can't spot reduce, but you'll look better as you keep on training. If you're focusing on weight loss for now, and not building muscle, just cut.

>>36873866
Because that's what infomercials, media and TV have made people think over the years.

>Well, that depends on how you'd like to diet.
>Do you calorie/macro count?
no, im not organized enough
>Do you do any form of regular cardio?
yes, i do 30 minutes on the bike 3 times per week and lift 2 days
>>
>>36873866
>Why do so many people think that working out something would make you lose fat there instead anywhere else?
because it sounds intuitive even tough science has totally disproven it and like the other fag said, it's a myth enforced by the media and weight loos industry

If you don't want to half-ass your progress, calorie count.
>>
>>36873963
im happy with 0.5 kg per week, is that reasonable or is that an amount that requires extreme checking

what does a cheat day look like to you?

A few questions bros.
First off, what would be a good test booster? Available on amazon or some shit like that.

Also, is horny goat weed good?

IM looking for legal ways to boost my test w/o becoming a /fraud/.

Also, is l-carnitine any good or just a gimmick? The one from gnc.

Thanks pals
