I press 50kg for 5 reps which isn't much but I will say that my lifts have gone up significantly by focussing on technique/form. Keeping your grip only shoulder widht apart feels weird at first but it will help you progress quicker. Most people have a wider grip which can be limiting.

I can do 1 plate for like 3 reps.

It is easier as it requires less coordination to remain stable. But I wouldnt recommend it because it puts more pressure on your lower back than when standing.

Seconding this, I used to press with my middle fingers around the rings on either side and it was ultimately limiting as well as harder on my shoulders. Just outside shoulder width makes it easier to just go straight up.

Because most people have no need for shoulder strength and even most gym rats tend to neglect them. OHP is very difficult for most people and its ok. Keep improving.

Push press with slow eccentric return to rack position.

Swiss bar or log press

Overhead carries

Turkish getups

47.5kg for 5x5, haven't stalled yet.

Used to hate it as I stalled at only 40kg 3x5 a long while ago. Lowering the weight and doing 4 sets of 8 (twice the volume) just shot the weight up. Doing arnold dumbell press too, and some lateral raises.

Volume Volume and more fucking volume.

Anything that works your triceps heavily.
Dips, push press

But if youre not OHPing decent weight then fuck assistance exercises. You need to do more OHP.
Like every session. You dont get very strong in a lift by doing 15 reps once or twice a week.
Do it every session with different rep ranges and intensity.

Is his video on Art of Manliness the best way to do The Press? I saw the old vids and they are sort of doing a little bounce instead of the hip snap.

I get absurd looks doing the hip swing, but no one bats an eye if I do the old mini bounce method.
>>
>>36861363
>mini bounce

Depends what that means. You are keeping your legs locked right?

>>
>>36861384

You bend your knees down a tiny bit, then you lock them up, and as you lock them up, you use that upward snap to snap the bar up.

I saw it in his older The Press videos before the hip snap.

But It's after a full body calisthenics thing, and 3x 3-5 reps deadlift.

I might be able to do more, I might not.
I've never actually tried.
