Doesn't make it any less of a joke. An insanely powerful mutant asks Saitama how he got his godlike strength and he answers by giving him that very unimpressive and basic bodyweight routine. Whether you find it stupid or not funny or whatever doesn't matter, but the point is that it is meant as a joke. The routine is meant to sound basic and unimpressive.
