What does /fit/ think of Eddie Halls new world record deadlift of 1025 lbs?

It's a perfectly fine deadlift for a strongman
>>
>>36848785
This guy took 30 years off his life to get fat and lift heavy things off the ground

Not that lifting that much weight isn't impressive, but really? I can't get excited about an extra 5 pounds over the last record
>>
How does one prep to do that?
>>
>>36849648
Kill yourself.
>>
The 1020 one looks a lot easier for him than 1025. Does that extra 5 really make such a big difference at that level?
>>
>>36849653
He's in the gym more than he's at home, godly genetics, built perfectly, perfect stack going

>>36849704
He was definitely in better condition for the previous record
>>
>>36849648
He held the past record

You will never deadlift even half of what this guy just did

Is his leg fucking tearing open
>>
>>36848785
they get to snort coke before lifts? seems like cheating
>>
>>36849704

The difference in equipment certainly can. The 1020 was done on a standard deadlift bar, the 1025 on a custom bar made specifically for the contest. You could see it fucking with a lot of the lifters who weren't prepared for how it would move.
>>
He looks like a fat slob

Nice "athelete" you have there lmao

Chalk for the hands, baby powder for the legs (if the comp allows it).

>>36849175

Strongmen =/= powerlifting

>>36848785

462kg looked much better, but still, pretty impressive.
I wonder if he's ever gonna reach the 500 he says it's possible though. But I guess it's more of a "shoot for the moon" thing.

Hey eddie, it's time to cut
>>
>>36850671

I said it's impressive, but a +5 pound upgrade doesn't seem like a huge deal in the grand scheme. It's like

>OOH, HE SET A RECORD, 100 CONSECUTIVE PULL UPS!
Next year
>OOH, HE BROKE THE RECORD! 100 and 1/16th CONSECUTIVE PULL UPS! WOOOOOOOAH!
>>
>>36851935
You would understand if you realized at that level it takes almost a year of training to make that much progress. A bad training block could cost him the PR.
>>
>>36851957

Hell, even a good training block probably wouldn't get him the PR. To put together a new record you need an awful lot of shit to go exactly right. Sometimes it takes guys years of effort to get it all lined up once. Some guys never do.

>>
so whats the science behind eating so much. Does having a really big gut help lift the weight?
>>
>>36852072
He has no reason not to eat that much when his entire life is about being a strongman
>>
>>36852072

To an extent.

The big advantage of the bodyweight comes in other events, but you need a huge amount of muscle mass for that kind of strength and its very hard to build and maintain that level of muscle without some fat coming along for the ride.
