Hey /fit/, I am joining the military in five months. I have been lifting for three years on and off. My strength is decent enough but my run time is not that good. I am running 7,0 km in 50:58 right now and i am wondering if i could do the same or better in 10km in 4 months? I am doing HIIT two days a week and jogging two days a week. I am holding of on my gym days for now. Joining the military is no problem but i am about to apply for a commando regiment. So the minimum requirment actually 48 min for 10km. I don't want to blow out my knees but i am planning increase the distance i jog by 1,5 km every two weeks. I am going for a run now so my answers will be slow, but i could use some pointers.

Wanna get better at running? Run more. You figured it out.

I am worried about blowing out my knees though. When is adding more distance too much?

Jeeeeeesus

Is this a joke? I only run few times a month and even on my first run after I sat on my ass the whole winter I did 10 km in 51 mins. There's no way you can't make it in 4 months. You'll make it in 4 weeks or less.

The military is DYEL as fuck. Even the commandos probably have shit lifts and decent cardio training, nothing extraordinary.

Just have basic strength, good swimming perfs, and you're set.

You want to join the military and you're worried you might fuck up your knees by running? What am I reading?
>>
>>36845141
The minimum requirements are basically worthless, you'll should expect to be able to do much more than that if you wanna pass. Also train marches, like really long marches, slowly work distance and backpack weight to untill you can do something like 30-50km and 30kg

How much do you weigh?

Also going from 7 km at 50:58 to 10 km at 48 min in only 4 months is kind of a stretch but maybe not impossible. If you are a lot overweight it's going to be difficult.

I was conscript into military training and throwing up your muscles was always issue. Throwing out leg ruins everything but you don't have time to ease into the regime.
>>
>>36845141
Seriously though, what advice you guys got for someone who wants to start training for special forces entry?
>>
>>36845141
I hope you don't believe you will look like or be doing pic related because you wont. You're gonna be just another dyel recruit #123532134

66kg. I'm a manlet at 5'5 so my weight is within reason.
>>
>>36845296
But I don't know have the money or the backpack to carry anything heavier than 10 kg. I could practice walking really far but idk how good that is.

Train like a mother fucker in running and swimming, everything else will pretty much fall into place. And no I'm not kidding. If you can run and you can swim, you can pretty much qualify for any spec ops. After you're good at those, add in calisthenics and do a shit ton of push ups sit ups and chin ups.

Or just do cross fit because that's pretty much all spec ops training is anymore.

I got to a 48 10k in 4 months and I weigh 89 kg.

It's possible but you will have to train a lot
