Trying to find a decent traveling/exercise bike for around $500, does anyone have any recommendations? Which companies do you cool kids prefer?
I like Trek. The 7.2 FX is good at that price. You may want to ask on Tra/n/sportation.

Giant escape 2. But if you're thinking about actually getting into cycling you're looking at 4 figure bikes

forgot about that board, thanks
Bikes under 1000€ weight the same as an old ten-speed and cost several times as much. They also have the biggest markup.

I'm looking into biking which I feel does not necessarily mean $1000+. You can get quality that lasts for decades for around $800
>>36842717
I can't afford $1000, can your retards fucking read?
>>36842763
Can't YOU read? Get an OTS or a second hand $200 bike if you absolutely need integrated shifters. Spending $500 on a 10kg bike is getting scammed.
I ride a Scott, got it off craigslist for $450 and it's been an absolute dream to ride.

10kg. Please, 10 lbs if you're serious. I ride pic related.

Bought an old cro-moly trek for 80$ put 50$ worth of parts on it. Been going strong for 2 years.
Gets me around town, don't have to worry about it being stolen, don't have to baby it.

I'm a lvl 3 /n/ memer, allow me:
.- reflectors of any kind x3
.- dat cable management
.- stem is not slammed
.- valve cap and washers are on x2
.- no bottle cages (seriously wtf)
.- sissy inner ring
.- saddle man-purse
.- dork disc
I've got the Giant Escape 2 and it fits the bill to a T. I like it so far. Replaced the grips and the seat. I've only taken it on about a 20 mile trip so far. Thinking about doing a day of Ragbrai.

Every word of this is true.
Masi. It was half off because they went out of buisness making it 500. I like it.
Are presta valves becoming more popular? The last two tubes I bought only came in presta. It's discomforting knowing someone can just deflate your tire without any tools.

That's neither a $500 bike or an ultra light bike
It's an expensive aero bike
>>36843137
Are you the kind of person who worries about strangers peeing in your water while you're away?
But to answer your question yes, many mtbs now come with presta
>>36843139
It got it as a demo bike. It was a decent deal.
>>36843067
I know it's not pretty but I really don't care, it works. I didn't post it looking to impress anyone, also that pic is from when I first bought it and I've since made changes.
Also what is with that paint job?

None of those points is about aesthetics alone.
Watching people torture Cervélos is my hobby.

Why would someone do that?
I just went into my local bike store, and told the guys my price range and needs. They hooked me up with this lightly used hybrid bike for $350 (which had originally been $1000+, but the person returned it after a week because it was the wrong size) and I love it. I use it every day to get to uni and work and it's taken the rain and snow like a champ. Seriously, just ask the guys, they know what they're doing and will be able to get you something affordable that matches your area.
