or they'd recruit good sprinters (easier to notice explosiveness vs gymnasts)

gymnastic stuff is just really good for building a solid base of overall fitness since you need to be mobile, and plenty of the progressions translate well to strength feats

kinda why they include sports as gpp for youth lifters. it's pretty much plyometrics, speed/agility, and aerobic work in one package.

since you're a beginner, you'll do better with quality over quantity

if you don't like the rotation of snatch/clean & jerk, do:

mon - snatch
tue - clean & jerk
wed - squat
thu - rest
fri - snatch, clean & jerk
sat - squat
sun - rest

practice tech at light weights (say singles @ 60%) on mon, tue
do pulls after, but dont go heavy yet
on fri do some heavier singles, and cut down volume of both lifts by half

wed squat get some volume in (e.g. 5x5 or whatever)
sat squat try to increase weight (ramp to heavy set of 5)

add in assistance + mobility work and you're good.

keep in mind 1:1 back squat to front squat ratio might not be 'balanced' if you're weak in certain positions, etc

optimal might be 3:2, or 2:1, etc.

try back squat on wed, front squat on sat

then on sat work upto heavy doubles/triples on fs, no backoff sets

Well i managed to do russian squat program, so i don't think that i will start to hate oly

Best frontsquat: paused 3x112.5kg
Best backsquat: 5x132.5kg

I think that the workouts will be quite easy for the first two months, since i'm probably using babby weight with c&j and snatch. I'm not going to add more weight, if my technique doesn't allow it.

I'll start with back squats on wed and fronts on sat and see how it goes!

Slow tf down. Seriously. It looks like youre trying to lift as fast as humanly possible without caring whether you hit the correct positions or not.

Deload to just the bar or a broomstick if you have to and move the bar across every position as painstakingly slow as possible. You should be getting sore/tired just by doing that because of how slow youre going. Once you perfect the snatch at x0.05 real speed, go a tiny bit faster. After a few weeks of this, you should be able to go full speed and hit all the correct positions 100% of the time.

You should snatch twice a week and clean and jerk once a week if you're only going to do the lifts three days a week. The snatch is much harder for beginners to learn and takes less time to recover from than the clean and jerk. You'd be better off doing something like Catalyst's beginner program, 70s big's transition program, or Dan John's beginner program as opposed to random shit prescribed on a Cambodian cartoon forum.

1. depends on your proficiency level, but generally the best routines are really simple as a base (classics, pulls, and squats), with intensity, frequency, and weakness correction determined by the coach. A good routine is more or less tailor made, unlike in PL or BB. The best you can settle for otherwise is the first one I mentioned + bodybuilding

2. Start with local meets, where you can qualify for better ones like the university nats. I qualified for university nationals with just 85/120 which were kind of bad. I don't think I can repeat that again this year, you'd have to check out what the standards are now but the sport's getting more popular and the benchmarks are going way up

Last meet I went to a 94 won it with a 115sn and 140cj to the standard is not huge if you're strong already and willing to get good technique
James Tatum for example is sitting around 140/180 as a 77 (can't remember too well but I think that's where he is) and he's one of the best in the US (keep in mind your average chinaman or ruski smokes him with closer to 160/190 in that weight class)

current sn/cj is 95/125
lifts are 140, 160, 85, 235, 115 respectively, weigh around 79kg right now. Haven't tested maxes on squat, dl, bench, or OHP in maybe 2 years now that I think about it

In UK too the funding is trash and if you're a man you get 0, there's no allocation for it. Alot of lifters in Europe have started lifting for bundesliga teams because they will pay for flights+accommodation and then you get paid per kilo of total
