Good for women: phytoestrogens can act as competitive antagonists for estrogen receptors ie: might help reduce breast cancer risk
Bad for men: lowers testosterone levels, however this has only been observed in males fed diets that consisted *mostly* of phytoestrogen rich foods
tl;dr: Bad if you ate nothing but soy, but probably not going to affect you significantly

Fantastic if sourced organically and taken in moderation.
Phytoestrogens generally have no affect on hormone levels unless you drastically over-consume them.
A quick run-down:
Phytoestrogen binds to your body's estrogen receptors. Each phytoestrogen has its own unique affect - for example, fenugreek activates estrogen receptors in the breast and trigger milk production, while soy phytoestrogen has a greater affect on estrogen receptors in the skin. The phytoestrogen in saw palametto actually clogs up and deactivates estrogen receptors in men.
If you massively over-consume certain phytoestrogens, then you'll start feminizing yourself.
So... If I have high testosterone as a woman (pcos hirsuitism and my breasts look like man boobs) I should focus my diet on phytoestrogens?
i read they help repair stretch marks but idk, anything with estrogen in the name scares me
