Got a PR on bench again finally. Its not much but slow and steady! 30kgs per side

Also general bench press thread!

I'm hitting a bench plateau at 165x5 on SS after 3 months of training. This is the first time I'm trying to deload (10%). Today, I did 2x5 + AMRAP 6 on the last one. Worried that I will fail with the next workout because this weight still seems heavy to me :(

Any suggestions? Should I already change from SS?
>>
>>36832724
just say 80kg you retard
>>
>>36832724
You're at the natty limit. Time for some roids Friendo.
>>
>>36832879

How much do you weigh?

If you are just starting out, bench press is a real bitch. Unless you're fat you're going to hit your plateau around your bodyweight. I've been stuck at my plateau for months before.

The transition from 1pl8 to 2pl8 for normal people is a tough one to make. That's why you see so few people in the gym doing 2pl8, it takes patience to get there.
>>
>>36832724

You better have reached this twink weight after 2 months son or less.
>>
>>36832914
>Unless you're fat

What? Can i gain fat instead of muscle to bench more?
>>
>>36832879
Deload by 10% with the most perfect form possible for a week. Then try the weight again.
>>
>>36832938
Fat people tend to have better leverages for bench pressing.
>>
>>36832938

Yeah, balloon up to 240-300lbs and carry all that extra fat around for a few years.
>>
>>36832952
Does my arms or something become shorter from gaining fat thus improving my leverages for bench?

>>36832953
But what pressing movements do i do with my fat that increases my chest muscles!?!?
>>
>>36832974

How much do you weigh, what's your height, what's your bench?

Post pic if you can
>>
>>36832974
Less ROM from all the fat on your chest

Im so fucking glad i dont have to gain muscle to increase my bench, thanks guys.

Off to the shop for cola and chocolate it is, ahhahaha XDDD all my "brehs" are gonna "mire" my bench when i outbench them (with little to no musclemass mind you. They dont know the secret of fat =) )
>>
>>36833063

It'd called "bulking"

You're more likely to get skinny fat than anything with your body structure.
>>
>>36833090
Yes but ill bench more with the extra fat right?
>>
>>36833063
Don't be buttmad fatty, you can get a stronger initial bench than a skinny fag due to the same reasonI could bench more if I half repped.

Whats the difference between dumbell bench press and barbell bench press?
>>
>>36833101

If you carry the fat around for like 3-5 years and completely balloon up by 100lbs, yes. Your body will have to build muscle to carry around all your extra weight.
>>
>>36833123
Oh sorry, the fatty rule only really applies to natural big fatties, not skellies trying to become fatties which end up being skinnyfats.
>>
>>36833148
But why cant i decrease my range of motion with fat unlike "natural big fatties" ?
>>
>>36833125
One of the two is better, but you should do both.
>>
>>36833213
If that's your goal by all means please do.
>>
>>36833125
bb for strength, db for size
>>36833248
>better
Depends on your goals famaloo
>>
>>36832879
I got my bench from 135x5 to 200x5 in 4 months and after that I hit a plateau. I changed to 3x3 for few weeks and took a week off. Then i started doing PAUSED BENCH at 180x5 and it was fucking crazy, I benched every 4-5 days and every time put 5 lbs more. Im now at 210 x5 paused and 225x5 stop&go.
Paused bench is a real blessing.

My plateau is my baseline bench of 185 at 165lbs BW. I've come off working out for months and that's always my baseline. After I get past 185-195 I fucking truck through the weight on up to 245, it's weird. It's like this burst of gains.
>>
>>36832941

this. I weigh 160 and managed to get to about 185 bench on SS before hitting a serious platuea. When you delode, make sure your form is perfect and do your sets slow and controlled, then go back and smesh it
>>
How to fix uneven feeling bench press?

It's been 6 months and I'm still at 90 pounds because of fear that my right arm will fail from having to make up for the left.
>>
>>36833575

post pics of yourself. upload video of form next time you go.
>>
>>36833575
I dunno if you're still here, but do dumbbell bench to compensate.
>>
>>36834284
Ok
>>36833705
Will do, if you promise to not bully me.
>>
Hut 225 five times yesterday !
>>
>>36835605

Of course you're going to get bullied you retard. Everyone gets made fun of here. Just don't be such an insecure faggot, it will help you in the long run.
>>
>>36832724
I'm fat but i can knock out 40kg dumbells for 15 reps.... im i strong?
>>
actual Olympic form.

230lbs

155lb weigh in.

my personal best.
>>
>>36835696
On each arm? Then yeah
If 2 20kg weights then a little strong stranger than the average non lifter
>>
What weight should you start at for BP? I tried it once and did about 14kg, which seemed heavy enough but I could probably go higher
>>
>>36835724

You can actually compete with a 230lb bench?
>>
>>36835749

Yeah each arm

20kgs feel too light
>>
>>36832888
Thats 60kg tho
>>
The inside of my right elbow hurts really bad whenever I try and bench (only started lifting like 3 weeks ago) Anyone else deal with this, and know how to fix it? To specify, I think its my medial epicondylitis that's hurting.

Finally broke 315 last week. Tried 325 right after but stalled on elbow lock out. I bet if I try it again I will hit it.
Did 6x3 at 255 today as well.
Feels good mang.
>>
>Weight 160
>Hit bench plateau at 165 while training 3x5
>Just can't get 170 for reps
>Go through a lot of retarded deload cycles, never getting past 170
>Finally say fuck it, decide to put weight on at 3x3
>Now can consistently put on 5lb every week

If I have to deload again I'll go back to 3x5, but damn I wish I had moved to 3x3 sooner.
>>
>>36836846
nigga do 5/3/1
>>
>>36836882
I considered moving to 5/3/1 but I'm still able to add weight every week, so I don't want to switch to a 4 week cycle just yet.
>>
>>36836812
No. Niggers who think this are either trolling, stupid or both. Just do what you like or switch it up now and again.
>>
>>36836882
>>36837255
id recommend it, i plateaued on bench and OHP and started moving again on 531. get the pro wendler 531 app for your phone, easy as shit to track everything and it plans out your cycles for you
>>
>>36836882
5 plate/ 3 plate / 1 plate? 3 is easy but 5? Cmon???
>>
>>36836846
>>36832724

Maybe try narrowing your grip? About 3 weeks ago I could bench 225lb for 3x5 with the last rep being sort of a grinder. I switched to DB inclined for those weeks going from 85lb to 100lb for 3x5 and started OHPing again. Went back and did flat BB bench again 2 days ago and knocked out a fairly easy 5x5.

Moral of the story:
Switch to DBs for a bit
Do OHP if you aren't already
Narrow your grip a bit
>>
i've plateaued at 225 5x5. Lately I've only been getting it for 5, 5, 5, 4, and 4. Should I just focus more on my incline dumbell press? I do 65 3x10. The only other chest exercise I do is volume cable flys.
>>
>>36838058
Stop doing BB entirely for like two weeks and focus on strength on the INC DB Bench. Considering you currently do 65lb for 3x10, I am guessing you can do 85lbs for 3x5. Just do that and work your way up for 2 ~ 3 weeks and then try flat bb again.
>>
>>36836780

You are using your shoulders instead of chest. Probably your arms are straight out on both sides instead of angled down.
