So I'm new to WL, just following a general strength program, heavy emphasis on squats, pressing and rows.

Right now, I'm using bar and bumpers for everything so 30kg for about 2 months. I've been told to do keep doing this by my coach to ingrain patterns and consistency.

I'm having trouble extending/jumping and being explosive (for lack of words) with my ankles in the clean and snatch. I've been doing hang snatches and hang cleans to help fix it.

pulls are pretty easy on knees imo
power cleans I never really find are bad, but with full cleans I try to pull really hard and catch a little higher, this helps me completely avoid bar crash and I have a smooth transition that is comfy on joints

Fellow Lordo here.It looks like I'm on my second trimester all the time with my belly protruding out, my lumbar arcd and my duck butt.

Strengthening my lower lats is what I am focusing on. Have tried Psoas stretches and hammies/legs in general...still have it. But stopped foam and lung stetches on the daily though..gonna pick back up again.

Do you have any lower lat muscle to speak of. Also, you got weak abs?

Hammies might not be the answer to lordosis but an extended lumbar deosn't stretch them naturally. My toe touching ability was shit 4 months ago, and with regular toe touching and some yoga stuff i am a lot more flexible and not so tight. Tightness doesn't help anything and ext lumbar doesn't loosen hamstrings.

that doesn't mean you'll have flexible hamstrings, it means that the hamstrings were lengthened. Essentially you'll be just as bad at touching your toes, but the hamstrings happen to be longer because the glutes are further away from the knees. Stretching hams won't hurt but if you're doing that instead of addressing the real problems like weak core and shortened hip flexors you're not going to get any better

not really m8, I mean you're not wrong in that everything's related, but you can have shit ankle flexibility and still squat ATG with no buttwink, you'll just have a lot of torso lean. Likewise you can have good ankle dorsiflexion but if you have tight glutes that don't let you keep the lower back straight, you'll cave.

Ankle and hip flexibility are fairly interchangeable though in order to be proficient you need both. The reason I talked about hip tightness is that when you're lordotic, or in APT, you're shortening the hip flexors.

trust me m8, as anon said you shouldn't be doing a full program till you have reasonable tech. I was missing lifts at 70% because I was trying to get on a program asap and it was awful, no progress.

I spent a few weeks just working purely on tech and then started a routine, and at this stage I never miss anything below 85%, and even then I only miss if it's the last rep of a triple or something.

Just do lots of light singles around 50% and really work on all the cues that you've been picking up. You'll just "know" when you've done a good rep because everything will feel effortless and you will feel as if the bar is sitting perfectly above your head.

this is an article by Jung Byong kwan who is one of the most influential weightlifter/coach. the article talks about the basic principles of training and nutrition.
the pic says that lifters should always try to beat 1 or 2 personal records every week (on mondays or fridays). you shouldnt always go for snatch or cj but do like:

week 1 - snatch and press
week 2 - back squat
week 3 - high clean

he says the more you attempt for pr, your bod can get use to the weight. he says if a weightlifter does training for full year and takes two months off as vacation you would do 40 attempts.

ive been exact same as that with hang and i have 91kg snatch and 120 clean within little more than 2 months of training

I'm.not arguing that you can do a nice simple program, and I agree many people should, but the main thing is doing something and doing it consistently.

I'm fairly new to the oly movements and can now power clean/power snatch well in addition to the overhead squat & front squat (full depth, proper rack posish, romaleos, everything). However I'm having difficulty blending the front squat into the nadir of the clean and the overhead squat into initial part of the snatch.

Got any general resources/vids for explaining ways to transition from the partial clean/snatch to the proper competition style?

I think commie has a rogue he seems happy with. I've used a pendlay, strength shop, again faster, and eleiko. Obvs the eleikos are the best. Pendlay bar was decent. The AF team bar is not bad at all for a crossfit/multi purpose bar. Strngth shop bar broke very quickly

Heard very mixed reviews.of the klokov bar. Dhs seem to be leddits meme bar.

Loads of bars that say they have needle bearings, especially when mixed with bushings, are cheap as fuck. A 200 dollar needle bar is a million miles from a proper comp bar

You can buy the exact same spec bar that's a 'training bar' just cos they don't pay for it to be licenced. I think it's maybe taishan or ueska or someone who do this and it's miles cheaper for the same bar basically.

Actually that's probably not true. Shitty needle bearings fall apart quite easy if there's any sort of lateral force applied, which is probably gonna happen.

Even shit bushings are quite tough. The problem with bushings is they don't spin so nice, but aslong as you get a few rotations out of it it should be ok to train on

That bar has both needle bearings and bushings though. So even if you lose some of the needle bearings, which shouldn't happen, you still have the bushings.

The 15U$ difference in price seems worth it to me.

Though I have no idea about the brand or their quality. Just judging from the stats on both bars.

I honestly am a bit late, 25yo and I have a pretty busy life. I don't want to show up to a competition if I'm just going to rank like a pleb. It's for fun but I want to do well. I'm never going to go anywhere with it so competition experience really isn't going to benefit me all that much.

norcal has PWA which has its own record, but that's where most of the stremf dudes come from so PWA records are very close to national records anyway

for 77kg the best ones lift around 140-150 for snatch and around 180 in cj

85s 140-160 snatch around 180-190

you'd be a medal contender with those numbers, 85 is very weak right now since the best guy mcgovern is injured

77kg is kinda strong cooper might be able to cj 190+ soon which is high for 77kg internationally but he'll never place due to bad snatch numbers

you just need to post a total enough to qualify in any usaw sanctioned meet within the qualifying period before the nationals
