Well here's the thing. I started...like two thirds of the way through last year on a bootcamp-style thing. I didn't take it very seriously, and I did it mostly because my gf did it. It was six weeks of one-hour sessions, six days a week, with a four-week break in between. As expected, the four-week break killed like 70% of the good I did because, as I said, I wasn't really taking it seriously. At the start of this year I decided to knuckle down for real and got a gym membership alongside the bootcamp.

I was 105kg/28% at the very start last year, and I'm 94kg/20-odd% now. It know that that's piss-poor losses considering how long I've been 'working out' for, but I don't really consider the start to be last year, more this year because that's when I decided to be serious about it.

How'd it come to the 28% to begin with? Poor diet? No workout? I used to stuff myself with crisps and other snacks all the time and always eat processed meat. Now I eat normal meat (like, not sausage or chicken nuggets, but steak, chicken breast etc) and it's much more satiating.

I'm 21 years old and I spent 20 years of that being a fat shit with no exercise and a poor diet. I refuse to place the blame at the feet of my family, because it was my choice, but they aren't healthy or fit either. So while I was living with them, especially growing up, I obviously ate what they ate, which, while not being fish and chips and pizza every night, certainly wouldn't be /fit/ approved.

Well if you start bulking at 10%, with a decent diet you'd be between 14 and 17% at the end of winter, atleast that's how my body works. On the other hand, my fat is jiggly and watery as fuck so i go from 15--->12% in around a month of cutting, but 12 to 8 can take me fucking months cause it's usually party season by then and alcohol is the biggest gains goblin there is.

they can be, but you can work abs too frequently to the point where they extend past your pecs and look weird as shit

do weighted ab work 1-2 times a week and then every other day do a body weight ab routine, i recommend kai greene's, and add planks for overall abdominal wall strength

i personally train abs every day because of martial arts stuff but there isn't much of a point in doing that if you're not expecting to get nailed in the guts soon

BMI isn't a measure of body-fat it's a measure of how heavy you are matched against how tall you are - if you think he said your BMI is 8.2, he most likely said it's 18.2 (which is what it looks like) that's a little underweight (18.5 is where "healthy" starts)

i got a DEXA scan a while ago and i highly recommend it if youve got the extra cash. i thought i was near 30% BF because i have no idea how to estimate it, but turned out i was 22%. it also weighs and gives BF% for each part of your body, shows your muscle imbalances, and if you get it done at a sports oriented clinic the technician will likely be able to give you tips on your form based on how out of whack your muscles are.
