Is it 100% necessary to touch your chest every rep? I usually just try and go close to it/a bit past my arms being at 90°, is that sufficient or am I half repping?

If you get a shoulder injury from doing a full ROM bench press, chances are you have other issues.

Honestly man I use dumbells way more than bench. I just feel like I hit chest hard and have less chance of injury, so no real down side.

You're not supposed to rest the barbell on your chest. Neither should you bounce it off. Just touch it for best ROM.

this guy >>36801736 gets it. it's a good rom cue but a lot of people will bounce it off their chest. that's why rip says go within an inch away from your chest. if you don't bounce it you might aswell slightly hit your chest with the bar.

90 degrees elbow angle, or just past, is not a good rom cue.

That wasnt me g. I've been lifting a year and half so relatively inexperienced. I've seen tons of how to's and I really cant find any form that gets me able to get full rom without immediate shoulder pain.

I've been doing a ton of rotator cuff exercises and thats been helping but my shoulders are in bad shape. My bench is at 175 right now and my Ohp is only like 65.
