I've been hitting 40 sets (each set for 10 reps) per workout for the last 2 months and it's been unbelievable.
I always do the 40 sets in about 1 hour so it's intense. Sweat pouring and the muscles are burned the next day.
3x8, 5x5, 3x5, 4x6 and similar set/rep schemes are garbage and IMO you have to be a quick gainer to benefit from it.
So try it out if you can. Beat the shit out of the muscle group you're working that day. You will gain some serious definition and size. See pic related.

1. Back
2. Chest
3. Legs
4. Shoulders
5. Arms
repeat (no rest days)

Recently I've been doing one compound lift for 4-6 sets of 3-5, followed by 4-5 more exercises for 5 sets 10 ten with 45 second rests in my PPL routine.
Shit is amazing. Size has gone up, endurance has gone up, recovery time is great. 10-12 reps is GOAT for aesthetics.
