Well, for one thing I can tell you that we do not have an equation for calculating energy expenditure on an elliptical. The variations in movement, and the changes that occur in movement patterns when using it dont allow for one. However thats a pretty good estimate of time for things like a treadmill so I have no idea what youre talking about.

Calories burned can be pretty precisely approximated by a function of gender, height, weight, vo2max, average heartrate during exercise, and time of exercise.
I'll tell you I burn 1000 kcals running for an hour on a treadmill.
Obviously, if you do put in the work, and run slow as fuck, you're gonna burn less. Simple really.
If 141 minutes of elliptical only burns 600kcal, you're hardly moving at all.
