I can do like 5. They are really fucking hard, unlike with push ups, you actually have to lift your entire bodyweight with handstand push ups.

in 20x earth g

15

I do these assisted with my feet on the smith machine bar. does it take long to learn to balance?

>>
>>36783728
I can do 5. Goal is 20. I'll get there one day. It's just baby steps and a lot of delt work.
>>
15 on blocks that increase my ROM.

Not sure how many weighted ones I can do

I took the liberty of making you a manual on how to do a headstand. It's very easy to lose your balance when you first start, so make sure you're surrounded by soft things. If you have to bail, bail forward so your front hits the floor instead of your back. Once you've done those for a while and you're confident in your balance, move your hands from chin level to the side of your head. Get used to balancing there. After that, you can do a push up.

I mean, you could do a push up from the headstand position too. It'd just be awkward given the placement of your hands.
>>
>>36783728
against a wall? probably 5
>>
>>36783923
nah thats dumb. look up "crow position". start in that position and use you core to raise your body up into position after that.
>>
>>36783950
I've done crane, crow, lizard, and several other balancing positions. None of them are good for training yourself to do a handstand. The best way is to get used to being upright and slowly work your hands in.

These give your forearms a pump that's hard to rival

Can hold a handstand in place for almost 2 minutes

Shit, I can't OHP bodyweight get how do you expect me to do that?
>>
>>36783728

at a wall or without one?

I don't have the balance to do them freely

last time I did some, I managed 10. since then I have put on quite some muscles so I'd have to be able to do at least 15 now
>>
i just tried and got 6

Without. I'm just curious if /fit/ is aware how hard bw excercises are.

I can personally do 8 with decent form

Please teach me how to master handstands.
>>
>>36784071
i didn't say it wasn't hard. it was quite difficult for my little string bean arms, tyvm
>>
>>36783783
Squeeze your ass, suck your stomach in and stare directly at the ground to do them straight. Also move your scapula all the way up. I forgot what motion it's called lol.

To do this though you would want to look slightly in front of your hands for balance

All of them.

Does this improve the same or some of the same muscles as pull ups? I can do pull ups but doing a hand stand is pretty tough at first

I guess I should have realized ohp'ing bw is a requirement, and it might be easier with strong shoulders. I am sad, and sorry I yelled.
>>
Negative 10 :(
>>
>>36784712
you dont need bw ohp for a hspu
>>
>>36784730
Then how much in comparison? I'm weak af, i do reps with 30% bw
>>
>>36784712
Handstand pushups are more delt than traps. OHP is a good start, but you'll want to incorporate some more delt-heavy exercises. A really good one is the pike push-up. It's basically a normal push up except your ass is in the air so you're shaped like an upside down V. Lower your head to the ground and push up. It's almost all your delts and good practice for a handstand pushup.

I think anon meant the headstand push-ups with a weighted bar
>>
>>36784789
Fucking what?
>>
>>36784817
Look at OP's pic. I think Anon meant that he does those in the Smith machine
>>
>>36784835
We know what he meant. And he's a retard for not just doing them against a wall.
>>
>>36784883
But you would he keep the barbell on his feet properly? A Smith machine seems like a great idea to me.
>>
>>36784934
Oh my god I just realized you're talking about goku.
Listen, no one is putting weight on their feet and doing handstand pushups, they'd do it with a vest/ankle weights if anything
>>
Can do 1/4 of a handstand on the wall.

I think that's pretty good for a 275+ man.
>>
>>36784969
But you could do it with a Smith machine. You wouldn't even really need to worry about balance.

I can do anywhere from 6 to 12 depending on what I feel like that day.

Honestly most people try to teach handstands and handstand pushups against a wall, but that really doesn't work. The best way is to learn how to fall onto your back and roll out. Most of the people I help learn handstands tend to subconsciously shift their weight towards their front because they're afraid of falling on their back, but once you learn to fall on your back you can find your actual center of balance. Handstand pushups get much harder though because depending on how you do them your center of balance will shift and you have to compensate for that somehow, but theres a fuck ton of different ways to do it and you really just have to figure it out on your own from there.
