>Be me
>Tore my rear labrum almost a year ago now
>Bench before tear was complete shit, never had (likely never will have) joocy pex
>Benched 165 for a grinding max
>Be me now
>8 months post-op
>2 months post-therapy
>Been training nothing but dips, cables and tricep isolations on bench day, because afraid of re tearing labrum
>Decide, fuck it, gonna bench
>Narrow-ish grip (pic related)
>Holy shit 135 ez mode, did 12 reps to warm up
>did 155 for a triple
>165 for a double (my old max)
>getting excited now, put on 2 dimes
>175, 1 rep ez mode
>get nervous, never even thought i'd get this farm
>Put 185 on the bar
>Down, up, like clockwork
>Holyshit.scoops
>Put on 190
>heavy single, one in the tank
>Based on how hard it was, guesstimate my 1rm at around 200 lbs
>My bench is now just below kind of decent for my body weight (175)
>Don't care, super fucking happy
>Go to taco bell to celebrate, don't care if i already had my cheat meal this week
>TacoBell Anon? really?
>Don't judge me, the steak burrito supreme is great
However, i'm kind of bummed i'm still not at 2 plates. I mean, 190 is good (compared to my old lifts), but 225 is about the point where you're considered mildy strong, right?
I'm so close, and yet so far away from a decent bench.
Anyone else still chasing dat 225 bench?
All my other lifts are progressing nicely, though
>200lb squat to 275
>280 deadlift to 325

as a fellow slap-IV labrum tearer, TAKE IT EASY THERE BIG BOY
Seriously, I don't care if it FEELS OK, your labrum isn't innervated so you aren't going to feel it if it's weak.

What he said. Slow and steady wins the race dick bag, keep low weight and increase very slowly and slightly or spend another 9 months without benching
>>36783831
9 months without benching? What?
>>36784158
not him but that's how long it took for me to come back from my labrum surgery
shit's a real bitch and heals slowly
it actually took 2 years for me to feel comfortable doing 1rm
>>36783801
Mine wasn't a slap tear, was a rear-labrum tear (all the way across the back).
I've been taking it pretty easy and this is the first time i've benched since the injury, but the shifty feeling i used to get in my shoulder pre-surgery is gone.
>>36784193
Even more reason to take it nice and slow
>>36783365
Hard to believe you added weight to your bench if you were not benching as a natty. iv'e never found accessory lifts to add weight to my main lifts.
>>36784417
My bench was shit though (only 165)
And i was doing weighted dips (175 body weight+25 lb plate, 200 lbs total for 5 reps.)
>Natty
If i could afford roids i'd probably buy a vehicle with the money instead of spending it on roids lmao.
I've had both shoulders done. Tears from dislocations.
I don't do dips or flat bench, I just dumbell bench and for like 12 reps...No fucking way am I gonna spend months sleeping in a cast again. I've done it on both sides so I warm up with rotator cuff warmup evey workout.
Dips r gonna fuck you m8
>>36783365
Posterior labrum tear, and you got surgery?
fuck, my doctor said surgery wouldn't help me
I can't even curl without pain on that arm.
I need help.
