You only make money off Youtube if
1) you watch at least 30 seconds of an ad
2) the ad gets clicked on

Refrain from those 2 no revenue is generated.

Who?

I don't like Blaha but at least he's actually somebody in the industry. Literally never heard of the other guy. Probably just trying to get views/attention for himself.

Wendler 5/3/1 is one of the best high intermediate-advanced lifting programs out there

Jason Blaha is a big name in powerlifting, but he's not a "nobody".
>>
>>36777276
>squats 1x/week
>>
>>36777363
Its 2 times a week you dipshit. Also if you are doing the advanced variants (which are recommended) you do like 9 sets.
>>
>>36777391
did your mother smoke crack on your pregnancy? you deadlift once and you squat once a week, when you do the normal template
>>
>>36777426
You are supposed to pick Assistance Template and 531 is for advanced lifters (protip: not you) that should know how to pick exercises

you might be right on this but wendler does not agree with you.

anyway I did the program (mostly BBB) with an intermediate upper and a novice lower body for like 5-6 cycles. I was still faster than when I did all the program hopping but now that I'm doing TM I'm waaay faster
>>
>>36777426
You back squat one day & front squat on deadlift day

My maxes over the past 20 weeks on 5/3/1 compounds with my own programming for assistance work.
>>
>>36777276

5/3/1 is dogshit. If you're advanced enough that you progress so slowly that you need something like 5/3/1 you're better off doing an actual powerlifting program that has separate training blocks and isn't built to have you deload once every month.
>>
>>36776929
I feel like a lot of people don't understand the humor in blahas videos.
>>
>>36777589
Please lift
>>
>>36777589
You realize 5/3/1 is about the compounds. After that you can do whatever you want. I run constant, deload 1 time a year, recalibrate training max whenever it jumps over 10 lbs.
>>
>>36777576
>333lb OHP
do you even claim being natty
>>
>>36777638
For the last 10 yrs. Before that .... well
>>
>>36777609
>>36777633

Train naturally, train 5/3/1. Next train a powerlifting program with periodization. Train them both for the same amount of time. Then come back and tell me which you see more strength gains on. It will always be the powerlifting program.
>>
>>36777648
I guess when I'm on that level you claim you are I would do this program again
>>
>>36777535
You have to do Joker Sets and First Set last imo. The BBB sets and the additional volume rly help you form wise. I really enjoy the programm. I have been lifting for 1.5 years now.
Curious on how it is on a cut though - testing now...
>>
>>36777659
I add max speed in everyweek for squat/bench/dead/ohp as assistance & run a 5-6 day split right now.

So 5/3/1 percentages for compounds max effort the rest is conjugate/bodybuilding assistance.

>>
ok ok guys guys guys

the progress you do with 5/3/1 is too slow for beginners and intermediates
>>
>>36777733
For beginners certainly. Where would you define the intermediate cutoff? Like 2.5xbw DL ?
>>
>fat powerlifter makes 100 usd e-book with 27 pages for other powerfats
>tweaks the details so he can release it again and again
>is on gear, yet claim to be natty
he's a faggot, only /plg/ gives a shit
>>
>>36777754
not the guy you replied to but
as long as your gains are going smooth, just stick to your noobie program
there is no cutoff in terms of weights
when you get constantly stuck with lifts, then try 531 if you think it looks fun

there's nothing wrong with 531 for beginners, but the progression is needlessly slow
but it won't hurt you

this is from practical programming. only in the first edition though. don't know why he didn't include it in the other ones
>>
>>36777828
Thanks. So its more or less 2.5 bw DL. Ofc assuming appropriate scaling of other lifts. Mfw my Bench is lacking... Advanced in the rest..
>>
wendlers 5-3-1 big but boring.

literally the best routine ive ever done, and ive done them all.
>>
>>36777576

You seriously put 200 lbs on your deadlift and squat in 20 weeks? Jesus christ, pls show me the way
>>
>>36778015
Sort of.... haven't lifted in 7 yrs. The numbers look skewed because of this but still shows the progression.
Previous max 10 yrs ago was 545 squat, 375 bench, 565 dead, never pressed before only used dumbells. So I started from a 7 yr standstill after just having both knees scoped.
>>
>>36778139
two knees scoped? c'mon!
>>
this scale is for 1rpm, yes?
>>
>>36777969
ive been doing 531 since i plateaued on pretty much everything back in december, and its fucking amazing - the BBB squats are an absolute killer, as well as joker sets if you're feeling frisky.

btw guys you're allowed to add any sort of assistance work you want while you're on it - you can even switch BBB sets on different days if you feel the need to squat or DL twice a week.
>>
>>36778213
Always get them done together, prevents double the down time.
>>
>>36777139
8/8
>>
>>36777659
Which fucking powerlifting programs do you recommend then? Fark m8. Atleast give us an alternative when you shit on 5/3/1
>>
>>36776845
>5/3/1 is not a good intermediate routine

Uh, what? I'm sorry, did you think you would make linear gains forever?

I love all these SLfags who think you can make linear gains to infinity. Even if you only progressed by 5 pounds a week (not every workout!) on your main lifts, starting with an empty bar, in two years starting with the bar you would be at 500lbs+ for every lift.

Even just for deadlift that would be insanely impressive progress. For anything else it's a pipedream.

Unless your lifts are embarrassingly low you will need a 5/3/1 style monthly progression routine by the time you've been lifting two years, which is right about the time you'd qualify as "intermediate."
>>
>>36777733
depends on what you mean by slow and beginner and intermediates

problem with 5/3/1 is wendler and others have created hundreds of variations

if you drop the deload week its 85lbs on bench and OHP and 170lbs increase squat and dead over a year

thats not horrible. even with the deload 65lbs and 130lbs are still pretty big increases. this is moving only at the base rate as well.
