just because its a rest day doesn't mean you have to NOTHING
Took my first rest day in 2 weeks yesterday because of Dark Souls 3. Having a hard time getting excited about gymming tonight. Just gonna force myself to go in there and do something. I don't even know what I'm going to work out tonight. I'm scared guys

Anyone else feels extremely tired and depressed during the rest days?

I try to find yardwork and other physical labor to do while I wait to lift. I found that I enjoy it almost as much as lifting, and shop skills are a great thing to have.

Check out Buddhism (stay away from Oprah-tier pop shit, the more based, the better), Stoicism, Neoplatonism, and the works of perennialists like Evola. It's not about getting indoctrinated into anything as just cultivating a grounded, life-affirming, and dignified attitude towards life, which I feel these systems do the best.
As for meditation:
Sit comfortably somewhere
Spine straight but not rigid
Head slightly down, you don't stare straight at the wall, just at something a few feet in front of you
Breathe in, breathe out. Focus on your breath and only your breath. keep your awareness situated at a point 2-3 fingers below the navel as it rises and falls
Do NOT engage with your thoughts. You are not meditating to never have a thought again, or to suppress them, but to learn how to detach yourself and maintain an objectivity in regards to the movements of your mind. Let them pass, return to your breath.
Do this long enough and you'll get a taste of what experiencing reality without the filter of your socially, culturally, and genetically conditioned brain always yammering away at you. It's indescribable. You'll get a sense that you are something more than just your mental ticker tape. You won't reflexively identify with mental narratives anymore, or be controlled by your emotions. You'll just be. From there the books you read will make infinitely more sense
Clear mind -> happier life -> more focus in the gym -> bigger gains -> more confidence and resolve -> more mental gains. On and on. They are mutually reinforcing

As long as you can recover, why not? Or you can have an active 'rest' day.
