I'm going for military training for 11 months. I have 3 months left to prepare.

What should I focus on?
>>
Endurance running. Y'all niggas run a lot in boot camp
>>
>>36751551
I am of course already running.

Do you have anything more specific? Distance? Goal times? Weights?
>>
>>36751537
Get really good at pullups and running, aim for 10 min 1.5 mile.

Remember one thing: dont try to stand out in basic
>>
>>36751681
> Don't try to stand out in basic.
Why? I'm curious.
>>
>>36751741
DS will try to single you out and make an example of you
>>
>>36751767
For trying to excel? What is this logic?
>>
>>36751606
Ten Miles.
>>
If Air Force then just play vidya and watch anime.
>>
Try running with weighted backpack
>>
>>36751606
you should know this information before going
>>
>>36751801
Not a mil but I would assume it's crush ideas of self importance and focus rather on the unit/squad instead.
>>
which branch famalam?
>>
Reminder to cut before going to the army to make push ups, pull ups and running easier
>>
>>36751537
focus on getting out of it

alright op before I can give you advice I'm gonna need some info:

> ASVAB score
> branch
> pushups in 2 minutes
> situps in 2 minutes
> 2 mile run time
> number of pull-ups you can do
>>
>>36751801
excelling as a group is highly valued
>>
>>36751849
Don't do this OP. You'll just kill your joints. You'll get enough of that in the military.
>>
>>36751606
Get used to running with a weighted pack on a trail. In boots. It's way different from running shoes on a track. Also pull ups, dips, over head press.
>>
>>36751929
What do you mean group? Are permanent squads fixed for the whole stay or something like that?
>>
On the chance you're British (I don't think you are considering 11 months. Not sure what fucking military trains for that long) The farthest you will run is 6 miles, with 1 minute water breaks every 2 miles, you will tab with up to 35kg, at a distance up to 6 miles. The rest is chip shop
>>
>>36751963
jesus british military is fucking easy
>>
Finn anon preparing for compulsory trainning?
>>
>>36751537
take cold showers/baths
>>
>>36751801

The military isn't about excelling, it's about being part of a unit.
You try to show off and act like future Mr Navy Seal and you'll get the appropriate response.

If you get asked to do 10 pullups, do 10 pullups. Dont try and show off because everyone will hate you.
>>
>>36752004
Well, I didn't mean showing off as in intentionally working more than ordered, but trying to do it as fast/best as possible seems reasonable.
>>
>>36751537
lots of cardio, HIIT, and endurance training
either you push yourself at a small amount of time or until failure
>>
>>36752027
have you already tested your pt test scores?
>>
>>36751963
The fuck pussy unit did you join?
>>
>>36752054
I'm not op. Way too individualistic for the military. Just a dude who's curious about the whole logic behind personel selection in the military.
>>
>>36751537
Country?

Probably useful to get good in shorter distances as well as endurance: get good in 12min test.
>>
>>36752088
Basically, the military is all about camaraderie. Nobody likes a suck-up, and nobody likes somebody who shows off or puts their achievements above those of the group. That being said, everyone loves a PT stud. If you can max the pt test easily and ruck 12 miles like its nothing thats great. You're not a burden on the team and you can help other people who may be struggling. Basic training isnt about you being a special snowflake, if you try to be one, the DS will put you in your place.
>>
>>36751972
UK Basic is more extensive and longer than any other in the world.

The basic Tommy still receives a more extensive course than a US marine, with the royal Marines training typically lasting 3 times as long.

They are specialists in artic training, the best in the world. There's a reason a lot of your guys are in Norway right now training under them.

>US military; zerg rush
>any other military; value their soldiers training

is it chilly at the peak of mount stupid?

Hes obviously talking about basic training, which is a lot easier than the phys you do at your own unit.

I'm not denying basic is very easy, although you would be amazed at how many people still do struggle.

Norwegian Elite Soldier here. Please try again.
>>
>>36752287
I think you mean the mountain leaders of the royal marines.
>>
>>36752329
What basic training then? I want to know which one is that easy?
>>
Push ups sit ups and running 2 miles in less than 15 minutes.

Congrats, you can now make it to CSM
>>
What military force trains for 11 months outside of special operations?

Anyway, if it's anything like the murka navy, it's just running that is difficult for most. Although for some reason, some people just can't do sit-ups or push-ups. I guess you'll have to figure out which one you are.

Also, it's generally just boot camp that's so stringent on standards. Pretty much every branch of the US military has tons of fat shitbags who have schemed their way into staying in.

Unless you're a marine, then you're fucked.
>>
AIT fag, have 2 months left in this hell hole called TRADOC. ask me anything regarding BCT (went to Jackson) or AIT
POG btw
>>
>>36751537
Your exercises in basic will be pushups, situps, pullups, dips, running, flutterkicks out the ass.

along with a bunch of random exercises during smoke sessions.

work up your cardio and do body weight exercises. you wont have any exercises with weight so theres no point in using them to train for this. be lean and great with your own weight and you will be set.

make it a personal goal to hit 80 pushups, 80 situps and a 12:00min 2 mile.

standing out (ASIDE FROM PT AND SHOOTING) is a bad thing because it means youre a try hard and care more about yourself than others. help others when they need it and stay out of it when they dont.
>>
>>36752591
11 total
So
>BCT : 2.5 months
>AIT: 8 months
Probably choose a shit MOS like 94D
>>
>>36752591
>What military force trains for 11 months outside of special operations?
here in Greece standard military draft is 9 months for land army,12 for navy and airforce. no idea about spec ops.
>>
>>36752609
I'll be going to AIT in a week. What are the shitbags like in the Army now? I have a feeling I'm going to be watching a bunch of self-entitled shit pricks from the back and really don't want to deal with idiots.
Also, what's your MOS?
>>
>>36752660

Mr. Big Hero mentality will get you and your fellow soldiers killed.

Do what youre told during drills, try to excel on your own time.

Running, pullups, pushups and crunches.
It's like you haven't given it any thought.

>Also, what's your MOS?

A lot of "2 weeks until retirement, the army could go fuck itself for all I care"-fags, most instructors are required to be E5 or higher, I've only seen one E5 in the whole base (Ft Gordon) that teaches. Pretty much all the trash left over from shitty companies from the regular army are sent here. They know their shit, sure, but they are also here for a reason, being absolutely lazy at everything but their job is usually the main one. Don't let that get you down, there is a lot of airborne in here too, they are here because they either want to leave the army and want to coast it until the end, or their joints are too fucked up to still be airborne/part of their previous unit.

It's a 70%/30%
70% are shitbags who could not make DS so they drill it up in AIT (yet they don't apply the same standards to themselves (there is this platoon Sgt who wears his PC crooked, but will destroy you for having untied laces). the rest are Chill as fuck

Army isn't about individuality anon, at least not in basic. It's about working as a team and ramming fundamentals of obeying.
