It really depends. For most people its a placebo effect.
For me, it was my body's constant expectation to be 'emptied out" whenever the urge arrived.
kinda like how if you wanted to know something, you'd pick up your phone and google it.

i did get some additional clarity and drive, for sure. Though i doubt permanent abstenence will do anything more than frustrate you.

If the change in mood comes entirely from the expectations of getting a change in mood, it would be a placebo effect.
