He retired in 2015, he said training like a professional is too stressful. Really wish he would have done one more Olympics. Could have also been from steroids, but who knows. Perhaps someone else with knowledge on the subject can chime in.

He's travelling around all the time and has to stay lean for the seminars. He doesn't have time to bulk hard and train 9 times per week as the people training for competition do.

Just seems like kind of a bum deal for an Olympic athlete - teaching average crossfitters how to snatch and clean. He seems like he's struggling for money sometimes too from watching his videos. I wish him the best, he seems like a good guy.

I saw some of the posters in his video, it was like $200 a pop. Subtract travel expenses. It looked like some of them only maybe 10 people were going.
Also, I saw one video where he was lifting like 400lbs above his head and this girl was in the background playing on her cellphone drinking starbucks so it must not have been too expensive

Given that for tested athletes (particularly those out of China, Russia and similar nations), 'injury' is code for "we fucked up the timing and he can't pass the drug tests", its probably not surprising that people didn't want to be associated with him. Everyone outside the Russian team is gonna assume he's a cheat and inside the Russian team they're gonna be pissed he took up a slot and then fucked it all up. Ain't much to be gained from being known as one of his guys.
