all you illiterate fucks who swear by keto will love this
Low carb diets raise cortisol (in case you want to further increase body stress).

Especially keto diets which by definition are CATABOLIC diets

Lower insulin:glucagon ratio increased cortisol
Aumento de hormona de crescimento para mobilizar energia
Higher growth hormone as a feedback
Lower liver glycogen( fucking stupid)
Increased SHBG ( less free testosterone)

"In conclusion, extraadrenal regeneration of cortisol is responsive to the macronutrient content of the diet. In these obese men, a low-carbohydrate diet reversed the increase in metabolic clearance of cortisol (3), increase in 5α- and 5β-reductase (4), and decrease in hepatic 11β-HSD1 (5, 6) previously described in obesity. Thus, chronic changes in dietary macronutrients may be a primary driver for altered hepatic, but not adipose, cortisol metabolism in obesity. The increase in 11β-HSD1 activity, and hence intrahepatic cortisol concentrations, caused by a ketogenic low carbohydrate diet has implications for the efficacy of different dietary strategies in reversing the metabolic consequences of obesity" http://press.endocrine.org/doi/10.1210/jc.2007-0692

You know what else increases cortisol release?
Caffeine
Exercise
Stressful environments
Strict diets
Poor sleep
etc.

Lowering the insulin/glucagon ratio isn't bad. You burn more energy than you store? Sounds ideal for someone trying to cut. Who gives a fuck if you release a little more cortisol than normal? All the symptoms are temporary, and easily fixed when you finish your cut and aren't a moron. Keto is recommended to have 2 week cycles with 3 days off. How much damage do you think people will be causing to their endocrine system, dumb fuck?

This applies to low carb diets too
And those are not cyclic
>>
>>36699642
And it low slin/gon ratio most certainly is bad as is lower free test
>>

So what? Anyone with half a brain can cut and reduce muscle atrophy with a positive nitrogen balance in their diet, and maintain their weight afterward with a 'normal diet'.

Literally all your article was pointing out is that cortisol is slightly elevated in a high fat, low carb diet compared with an isocaloric diet.
>>
>>36699779
You're in a catabolic state, why would you be concerned about putting on muscle?
Men have enough free testosterone to maintain decent amounts of muscle mass even in the lower ranges. Temporarily lowering the testosterone of a person who falls within the normal to higher side of the range does absolutely nothing in regards to muscle loss.
There's literally nothing wrong with sensible dieting, either through low carb or through an isocaloric diet.

>mfw doing cyclic Keto eating 285p 110f on no carb days and 620c 330p on refeeds
Steroids are pretty cool tbqhf

Is around 150g of carbs a day considered low carb?

I do 45% fat, 30% protein and 25% carbs.
>>
>>36699845
>doing cyclic keto not doing keto at all

You're not supposed to ingest that much protein you idiot. Why the fuck am I not surprised you're a fraud. Fucking triggered.
>>
>>36699862
Low carb is 20g to 50g per day.
>>
>>36699820
You want to spare as much muacle as you want on a cut. Low carb diets are NOT ideal for cutting
>>
>>36699862
It is low carb and unnecessarily high fat.
Read up on fat endotoxemia and LPS

It's as ideal as it's gunna get. You can't actually formulate an argument as to why it's worse than any other diet.
Keto is widely renowned as muscle sparing because of the sheer amount of protein you are taking in, all you need is a positive nitrogen balance (and thus don't actually need to do keto to spare muscle, just have enough protein in your diet), and enough circulating energy substrate (ketone bodies in the case of keto, glucose in the case of normal diets) and boom, you are primarily muscle sparing while in a catabolic state.

There's some kind of broscience consensus that seems to be spreading that without glucose you don't have energy to maintain bodily functions like repairing damaged muscle tissue.
It's wrong.

You're wrong.
You guys on /fit/ with an axe to grind about diets don't have the physiological expertise to give scientific advise. So... don't.
>>
>>36701569
No. Irs prett fucking unideal and the glucose argument is not the main one. Its that 1 ketosis is super inneficient 2 low carb diets leave you in a proinflammatory state 3 its fucking disgusting as a diet 4 unsustainable
>>
>>36702500
>proinflammatory
But by removing the carbs, you've removed any sources of inflammation.
>>
>>36702548
Read up on high fat diets, endotoxemia and LPS and youll know.
>>
>>36702598
>high fat diets, endotoxemia and LPS
So you are saying that keto is going to cause inflammation by giving you diabetes and making you obese?
You realize that even type 1 diabetes responds to low carb diets, right? And that before we knew about insulin the only treatment for diabetes was low carb diets.
>>
>>36702500
For the purpose of simplicity, I'll just say that ketone bodies readily swap into the citric acid cycle of the mitochondria, it's not inefficient, it's just not *extremely* efficient, like the metabolism of glucose.

Proinflammatory state studies are largely inconclusive. Tests on rats and women who are post-menopausal and aren't on hrt aren't exactly ideal candidates.
Everything else you mentioned is jibberish.
