Question m8s
I just got one of those fitness tracker apps and I'm on a cut.
Do I count the total number of calories burned when walking throughout the day? Or do I only count the calories burned when I actually mean to burn them (ie gym, running)
Most apps let you set a multiplier factor for your activity level. Sedentary may multiply your BMR by 1.1 to get the TDEE. Very active may multiple your BMR by 1.9 to get the TDEE.
I cover walking [like to check the mail, or take out the trash] & lifting by setting a general activity level. These are insignificant so I just average it out.
Then if I dedicated cardio, I use mapmyrun app & add those as extra calories, since it could easily require eating 1k calories extra on a given day.

I started using Google Fit since it tracks steps and shit without one of those fitbit things. I use my fitness pal to track calories and meals.
>TFW 40 minutes of heavy ass full body 5×5 sets only burns 60 calories
I think your best bet is to either track absolutely everything (using one of those fitbits or something) and eat at an appropriate deficit (500-1000) or else just use your TDEE, eating either at or just below (200-300 calories below) maintenance, ignoring cardio/lifting sessions. If you're bulking, do the opposite.

>TFW 40 minutes of heavy ass full body 5×5 sets only burns 60 calories
No you don't know that & neither does this app. Honestly its probably less than 60kcal. That's why you just adjust your TDEE multiplier & let it average out over time.
Technically the temperature of your house affects how many calories you burn while you sleep, but you have to stop tracking shit at some point.
Pedometers give bad info. For example sprinting uphill on a road bike gets logged as climbing flights of stairs on a fitbit, according to my friend. Another friend has an apple watch & it said he burned over 1,000kcal unscrewing some computer chassis for less than an hour.

>ignoring cardio/lifting sessions
I do a group road bike ride every Saturday which burns over 1,000 calories. If I followed your advice I would lose all my gains. Please don't give advice.

I'm honestly shocked how many calories cardio burns. I "walked" (was weedeating my workplace) for 2 hours and even though it was only a little mor than a mile i burned like 600 calories.
Of course I think you burn more if you're a big dude (220, 6'4" trying to get to 180) here)
