I was kinda slacking on my cut. Eating good and clean during the weekday then binging hard on the weekends. Then I began to binge eat. Binge for a day or two then don't eat for a day or two. Rinse, wash, repeat. for like a month my weight stalled. Trying to get these last 15 lbs off but it's rough.

But this week I've gotten back on track so I hope to keep at it

Cut started off rocky but now things are sailing smoothly. Currently in the second run of a PSMF - down from 297 to 276 in a little over 3 weeks. The second and third weeks I didn't stick to the diet as well as I could, really waffled my progress there.

8 and a half weeks left.

I never thought I could do it,

3 years ago I got into lifting for a bit, and after 3 months of trying, I was so pissed when I found that 3 months of eating clean I lost 10 lbs.

This time I decided to do it right. I logged all my meals to make sure I was eating over 3200 calories, sometimes even 4000 calorie days. Being 6'4'' means it's hard to gain weight.

But today, after my first month back in the gym in 3 years I gained 10 pounds! I'm so happy and proud of my progress.

It's a sad fact that most people greatly underestimate their body fat. When you get to your goal weight, hit maintenance calories for a while until you're ready to get back to cutting. Or just keep going until you hit ~15% bf.

I do have a question though, I eat 1200/day and it's tough. On MFP it tells me that I can eat 450 calories more on days that I run (30 minutes, 5k). It would be really nice to have that extra eating room but I'm not sure I should risk it.

On my rest days, I do HIIT to minimize muscle being used as fuel and eat 5-10% more carbs.

I honestly doubt doing HIIT will have effect on weather muscle is being used as fuel or not, at least not more of an effect as weight lifting would have. And going three times a week to the gym and eating at least 1g per lbs of lean body mass is pretty much enough. I think you're just making it more complicated than it really is, its not that easy to lose muscle.

Different Anon, but IF is really just a justification for skipping breakfast/not eating dinner. I eat dinner really early, like 4:30, then I don't eat till ~9-10 am the next day. Not necessarily a "traditional" IF routine, but the main benefit is that dinner is usually when I eat lots of bad things/dessert. Eating at 4-5 pm means I seem to avoid a lot of the bad foods.

Now there's a word I've wanted to hear for a long time: "bulk". But, two things.

1. Should I eat at maintenance calories, plus work out, instead of the cutting/cardio+weights that I'm doing now? Or by "bulk" should I eat at slightly over maintenance (2100 would be 300 over maintenance I think) and try to put on mass?

2. Define "clean". Can I eat regular food so long as I don't go overboard, or if I'm at a surplus am I just going to have to suck it up and go with plain chicken/rice/broccoli? I've got some protein powder, so I should be able to hit increased protein macros pretty good.

I've seen more gains in this 3 months i've been maintenance/bulking than in the whole fucking past year.

You will, however, lose muscle mass if you're not eating a ridiculous amount of protein.

If you're going to do a modified fast/extremely low calorie diet, get yourself a copy of Lyle McDonald's Rapid Fat Loss handbook and follow the protocol exactly.

I fucked up yesterday because I bought a bag of weed tuesday evening. Woke up, smoked, skipped leg day and ate 1000kcal above my daily goal in candy and nuts.

I'm 5'11 (king of manlets), started at 250 and went as low as 163. The times I approach 165, everyone makes remarks that I lost too much weight, even with very slight belly. So imagining anything lower than that while retaining muscle is pretty difficult.

I have finally stopped being a faggot and started to cut the final 15 pounds off. I used to be 250ish got down to 160 and I've just sort of sat there at 18-20% bf for about a year now.

I'm a few weeks in to hitting it hard and I'm leaner than ever. Top 4 abs are visible in the right lighting, face looking sharper than ever. Why the fuck didn't I do this a year ago guys.

The way I do it:

I don't fully trust any metrics because they don't know your exact body composition. IIFYM keeps telling me that I need to eat 1600 calories to cut (at 5'11 172 lbs currently), but those numbers don't budge until I go closer to 1500 or 1400 just to lose 1 pound.

Well I don't lift at all, but I do cardio 5 times a week.
Monday I do 2 hours walk
Tuesday I spend 1 hour at the gym on high intensity shit and 1 hour body weight work out at home
Wednesday walk again for 2 hours

Saturday and Sunday I rest
~I never log my work out to the app, I gained weight when I used to do that.

I have one cheat day a week to boost metabolism when I go up to a max of 1500 calories to boost my metabolism.
The rest of the days I have a max of 900 is just that I don't eat to reach the goal I eat whenever I feel like it (which is rare) and is fine as long as I'm not above 900

started new years resolution to get back in shape, quite drinking (hardest part) caloric deficit of 400-600 cal doing the Neolithic raw organic diet, no longer need cheat meals, haven't lost anything on max's , finally able to run sub 7 min miles again.
5 more lbs should be around 12% body fat, maintain for summer and start mah bulk after

Cutting

First thing I do in the morning is bang out every macro and calorie I need for the day. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, everything. Eat it all, and make sure its in the deficit. After that, nothing gets in. Water, all day, and maybe a dab of hot sauce.

Stomach whines like a bitch between 7pm and 11pm, but after that, it's nothing. I Breakfast feels like a goddamn king's feast, which encourages me to maintain an iron frame throughout the day to look forward to it
