Shit man. In my area you can have an apartment, a phone, cable, Internet, 80 bucks a week for food, and extra money, all on 40 hours a week at minimum wage

That's without a car of course.
Cars are a luxury.

Anyway
My point is, what the fuck are you doing wrong

High carb, low fat, low protein, and limit sodium.

White rice, oats, lentils, nuts, seeds, potatoes, bananas. Keep fat around 50-60g. As many carbs as you need. Protein at 80-100g.

>>
>>36675287
Why the fuck are you paying that much rent? You should go for a third split on your wages, one third rent, one third for build, one third for other living costs (including saving). You can up the rent a bit if needed and if you can cut your living costs, but it's not really advisable to go above half your waste on rent. If needed you should flat share. Yeah it's shit, but if that is all you can afford then you'll have to, until you can find a better job

lol there isn't a more stereotypical job for a canadian than a tree planter except maybe a mountie.

I live in one of the most expensive cities in the US (LA) and my rent is only $1400 for a 2br2ba. When I had a roommate I could pay my rent in 1 day if I worked enough hours. Change something about your life if you're just working to stay alive.

I thought canada had a higher minimum wage than us... is that not true? at least you get your socialist healthcare lol
>>
FUCK lad buy a big bag of rice, bread, chicken and waters. Im sure you can get all that with room to spare for some other things, maybe frozen veggies, I would just dedicate the rest I have for food on food. I have a car though so I have to take gas into consideration.
>>
Lentils bro they're full of proteins, don't bother with rice
>>

lol i would rather live in a big city and pay out the ass for a place (min wage is higher anyway) than live in a suburban wasteland/farmland backwoods

>>
>>36676345
you're lucky (if its decent care at least). I work freelance so I pay for my own healthcare and it's a fucking scam.

I need to do it though because if something bad enough happens my entire savings can get wiped out. its a fucked if you/don't situation. It's one of the biggest failings of the US system IMO.
>>
I lived for 8 months making about 1200 a month working full time and living in a roach infested studio for 850 with a literal drug dealer living on the corner of my apartment in the hall outside my door at night.

It's tough, but doable. You can give up the notion of trying to stay healthy though. Any unexpected expenses are going to fuck you in the ass, so you really should stop worrying about lifting and start spending 100% of your energy improving your situation.

For example, my car got stolen and since I was too poor to afford anything but the basic insurance, it wasn't covered for theft so I had to start walking to work.

Expect to go thousands of dollars in debt just to eat. 30 dollars for food is just not enough, even if you walk everywhere so you don't have to pay for gas, wash all your clothes in the sink and hang dry them, and only use public restrooms so you don't have to pay for toilet paper.

Something that could save you money would be a 10 dollar a month gym membership though. You can just not pay for a water utility and then shower at the gym for 10 dollars a month.

Things will get better if you treat the situation as temporary and actually take steps to improve it.

im on the border of north hollywood/burbank in Noho district. It's pretty central to most things and close to the subway without tons of traffic so I like it.

I've lived in my apartment for 6 years and it's only gone up $150/mo in that time. Hoping to stay here until my gf and I can save about $150k for a down payment on a house. Hope prices come down within the next couple years.

I'd have to work for 8 years and not spend a dime to be able to save 150k
>>
>>36675287
Are you fucking stupid?
>>
>>36677502
I don't feel like I tighten my belt very much and I save quite a bit. I also don't live like a nig nog with a fema check either.

I lived in about $1000/mo through grad school.
I had about $20k saved when I graduated (just my life savings at the time)
My expenses now are basically the same, but I spend more cause I'm not a cheap fgt anymore. Let's say about $1500-$2000/mo. I take home $5-6k a month before taxes.

I have about $65k right now, my girlfriend has somewhere around $25k I think. In a few years combined we should have $150k no problem as long as we can stay employed and keep costs reasonable.

I don't feel like I get paid that much, but I like my job and I work from home. I also live in one of the most expensive cities like I imagined. I feel like it's not THAT hard to make it.

However, $150k is still a tiny drop in the bucket. Homes that I think are shitty around here go for $800k. Fucking depressing m8
>>
Only the essentials.

>Milk -under $5 for a litre
>Eggs -30 cents an egg where I live
>Tuna -least expensive fish/meat I can think of
>bread -you could get it for free if you go to a bakery and ask for old bread, its perfectly fine bread but lots of bakeries throw out stuff at the end of the day for some reason
>beans cost next to nothing -$1 a can depending on where you live
>various fruits -dirt cheap
>Peanut butter -not super cheap but very healthy
>olive oil for cooking -lasts forever tho
>various veggies -dirt cheap

and you're done. Meat is expensive so I left it out. All this shit is dirt cheap and lots of it is uber high in protein and all that shit m8. Prices are probably even cheaper if you live in America because shit is just cheaper in general and your dollar is strong.

Also go get donated food from whoever does that shit where you live. They give you a lot of food.

>tfw haven't went out and had fun for a night in 4 years
>>
>>36677602
I shower once every 3 days and only for about a minute to save money
>>
>>36677752
it's really not a lot. here's my monthly:

$6k - taxes = ~$4k?

4k- health insurance, rent, car insurance, utilities = $2.9k

2.9k- food, gas, going out, shopping = $2k?

without any big expenses I might be left with $2k on a good month, which is only $24k a year. Like I said houses around here are $800k for something very modest. Factor in a loan and you'll be paying about $1.5mil for the house by the time it's paid off. That's 60 years of savings right there, given that I don't spend much and don't have any emergency expenses, vacations, new cars, or any big purchases.

oh and banks dont give 60 years loans cause by that time I'll be dead.
